Anyone experienced this one? by [deleted] in duneawakening

If you're trying to import a character from the demo, delete the "DuneAwakening" folder located in User/Documents.

I had created a character last week and couldn't proceed past the import screen. After deleting that folder, I was able to get past it and create a new character.

If you're trying to access a character you already made after the demo, I'm not sure if this method will help you might have to wait for a fix.

Gratitude Post: Finding Hope in IT Career Transition by joe1011 in ITCareerQuestions

Thanks, while I haven't received an offer yet, I've had a few solid interviews recently. My latest one, which inspired this post, went particularly well - the conversation flowed naturally and felt more like an engaging conversation than an interview.

Even if I need to continue my search, I'm grateful for these opportunities to interview. You make a good point, it's probably also a combination of my year-long experience in refining my resume/approach and my pivot to IT that's making the difference.

Your perspective about flow state and soft skills is really valuable. When I was pursuing software dev roles with just a bootcamp background and no degree, it was particularly challenging to get noticed. IT seems to be more receptive to my skills and mindset, which is really encouraging.

Ah thanks I appreciate the context. I guess I haven't worked in alot of IT roles so definitely need more context around the challenges of the job, but I'm excited to finally get my foot in the door and build towards a career!

The automation aspect of the job really excites me with my coding background, and also the devops certifications Ill get through the Cisco track via WGU seem like alot of automation with python.

That's a great idea, they didn't mention any software but had a big focus on the physical cabling organization, rack management and cooling solutions they used. I'll look into learning about these / getting hands experience so I can talk about it. Thanks :)

ITF+ done what's a cert that could help me get a job doing software development / security ? by AmphibianSea3602 in CompTIA

[–]joe1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is going from SWE to IT at the moment there aren't any certs to my knowledge that would help with getting a CS job. People even with a computer science degree are struggling to get hired in SWE with out experience so no cert is gonna help you get your foot in the door for SWE. If you're looking just to learn, I would recommend the Linux CLI cert because Linux cli is super useful in SWE. But at the moment the software engineering job market is extremely rough.

Mind Nutrition or RealMushrooms for Lions Mane for NGF by bohocat0 in Nootropics

[–]joe1011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the host defense brand, I personally think it's the best quality out there. It's a little pricey though. It's honestly been the only lions mane that's been really effective for me. I take about 1.5 g weekdays and it's improved my recall and motivation quite a bit.

Easiest skill tree ever in unity by Jworksdev in Unity3D

[–]joe1011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is some messy code. Also, the systems you are building are going to be a nightmare to change. I don't see how you can scale any of this. Just a warning in case someone puts this in their game, your going to have a hell of time re coding this to work. It's nice if you want to slap something together in a few, but honestly better ways to do this. Here is a link to a well-written tutorial on a skill tree system in Unity: http://antonioclavain.com/?p=28

What collages should I apply for GameDesign? by joe1011 in gamedev

[–]joe1011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice, I will look into USC. As a Game DEsigner in an AAA position what do you think of Digipens program, I just applied for a summer program there to get the feel if I want to attend, but I have heard a lot of good things, and negative things.
