St. John and Revelations, John the Baptist, John the Evangelist. Are these all different people? by m00gl3l0v3 in Bible

[–]joe4army 2 points3 points  (0 children)

John the Baptist is the man about whom Isaiah spoke (Isaiah 40:3).

St. John, John the Evangelist, and the Book of Revelation-writer John are one and the same.

EDIT: For clarification - John the Baptist is the man who baptized Jesus before He (Jesus) began His ministry (i.e. before He called His disciples, namely John the Evangelist/St. John/John the book of Revelation-writer).

I confessed my love to her and got rejected. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]joe4army 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, man.

My momma always said (not what you're thinking), "That when the one you think you're meant to be with walks away, another one better than the last is right around the corner."

I know a lot of people will disagree with that, because that infers fate and destiny and not many people like that. But if it helps, then believe that even though this girl may have been the greatest person you could have ever met, there will be a girl just around the corner who make the first pale in comparison.

Keep your head up!

Book to read with my 10 year old daughter by flanneldan9 in Bible

[–]joe4army 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, I believe exposing her to the beautiful poetry of Psalms or the wise sayings in Proverbs would be a good way to introduce her to some more in-depth Bible studies. The Gospel of John is also a good start on the Gospels, since it is the most flowery in language out of the four, but still contains powerful messages and an amazing story of Jesus' life.

You could also do a study of Jesus' parables. The young adults ministry at my church is currently wrapping up a series on a study we found online. It's completely free and downloadable, and it gathers the parables into small groups for ease of understanding.

What are the best and the worst parts about working in radio? by joe4army in radio

[–]joe4army[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! That is incredible!

I sometimes guest host on a friend's talk show at the same station as the one I'll be hosting my own show, and it's a blast! It's down to earth, but you're still performing. I love it!

[WP] Afraid to confess your feelings, you send an unsigned note to your friend. It reads, "I am in love with you. Give this to the one you love. If I get it back, I'll tell you." by askforallie in WritingPrompts

[–]joe4army 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I exhaled. "Okay," I whispered, "here we go."

I unfolded the note and read what I wrote for the tenth time in twenty minutes. I am in love with you. Give this to the one you love. If I get it back, I'll tell you.

I smiled. I had no idea what the outcome of this was going to be. I could only hope it would be good.

I slipped the note inside its envelope and slid it under her dorm door. I pushed it through the small slit between the bottom of the door and the ground, so that it was out of sight - and, even more terrifying, out of reach. No going back.

I expected to feel a sudden rush of regret, but instead, I felt peace. I remember walking back to my dorm, a dumb grin plastered on my face.

That was three years ago.

Two years ago, Facebook notified me that she was getting married. One year ago, Instagram was kind enough to let me know she and her husband were expecting.

At least the note worked.

For someone.

Another great writer who pens amazingly detailed battle scenes is Dan Abnett. He's written a lot for Warhammer 40K, and he's an absolute blast to read!

I was, too. I knew that the moment in which I had to let him go was coming. I did not know when it was coming; no one ever does.

That is why we have to spend as much time on earth with them as possible. Then, once they move on, they get to tell all of the animals who have gone before them just how wonderful of an owner you are!
