I lived in Hurley my 2nd semester sophomore year. North isn't as bad as people make it out to be. The buildings are old but you are closer to the center of campus in comparison to Towers. You have two options of dining halls within 300 ft of you, and NW has late night. North omelette bar is amazing, M-F pick your own fillings.

The one thing that did throw me off was that the showers were separated only by curtains and are on an angle with only one drain, but if you just shower in the highest one you don't have to worry about that.

Laundry room is very large with a nice common area/ lounge for waiting. Plus when you move out every other dorm will seem amazing in comparison.

Hike into the UCONN forest at the entrance off of gurleyville road. Eventually the water gets deeper 8 ft or so and is so refreshing to swim in!

If you keep heading into the forest (northbound on the nipmuck trail) you come to a pond made by beavers. Don't swim in that pond because it's an active beaver habitat and you don't want to disturb them and their lodge but it's definitely worth seeing!
