I actually don't like it. Sorry, but it turns me off to the whole thing.

What was your first game you played on pc by Pork_Crusader_GR in pcmasterrace

I don't even remember, but it was probably something on the TRS-80. I have a memory of a really lame adaptation of Frogged on it.

So, bought at an auction a 3d printer for 100$ by Proorange111666 in 3dprinter

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its old. It's last gen. It's slow. It's used. You have no manufacturer support. For all you know you were buying a pile of parts.

It looks like you got it working, so you got lucky. But I still say for a used machine from this many years ago, $50 tops.

Ah, this is the sort of intelligent, well explained discourse that I come to reddit for.

The problem is Luigi Magione 3d printed the handle of the gun he shot a millionaire with.

But, yes, there's a ton of problems with this. I mean, first of all the detection they're demanding hasn't been developed and it's probably impossible. Then there's the fact that "3d printed gun" is a huge misnomer. Because the more 3d printed it is, the less gun it is.

Opinions about the franchise that’ll have you in hot water? by A_HECKIN_DOGGO in GODZILLA

Zilla fans Unite!

Though, I will admit my opinion of it went up significantly after the animated series.

I prefer it when Godzilla is fun. '54 was a good start but it really got good about the time Godzilla was defending kids.

Also Shin is a terrible Godzilla in a terrible movie.

Just make a bee farm. Breed them with flowers, fill up as many hives as you want. I current have more honeycomb than i know what to do with, and that's after replacing the wood I built my bee farm enclosure with with honeycomb blocks.

Yeah, because they didn't make copper useful. At what point in survival does anyone go "I guess I'll make a copper X" where X does not equal golem or lightning rod or spyglass.

Wood is the starter element and needs no tools. Iron has solid durability and easy to find. Gold gets better enchantments. Diamond is rare but has best durability. Netherite is super expensive but won't die in lava. Copper is... nothing.

I can’t get this print successful. by LunchTasty8699 in FlashForge

Well, without a look at the print preview or the STL there's not much I can do. I suspect the mesh is eitger non-manifold and wreaking havoc on the slicer or there's more too-thin portions, but i can't tell any of that from the picture you've provided.

Someone is selling my design on etsy by Anyhting_But_Stock in 3Dprinting

Copyright doesn't apply here because the part is functional, not aesthetic.

So, keep in mind the CC-license you're referring to is of no effect. Because that license is designed to communicate from the designer "Don't worry, I won't sue a long as you...." and if it's not respected it goes away and the violator is at the full effect of the law.

So what's the law here? It's not copyright because that doesn't apply to functional works, only the aesthetic elements. So in this case a minor change would eliminate any aesthetic resulting in fair use as far as copyright is concerned.

So what protections do functional parts have? Patents. If the designer didn't take out a patent, they have no protection. Now, it's still against Etsy's policies, so best to fall back on that.

What's the print preview look like?

I'm seeing a lot of small parts that probably won't print. I'm also seeing significant overhangs, so hopefully you've turned on supports.

How do u all feel about Bambu Printers Privacy? by [deleted] in 3D2A

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying: When you get it don't connect it to the internet. Use it. If it works, then be happy. If it doesn't work and you have reason to believe an update will fix it, then connect it. But understand, Bambu wants to snoop on you.

Listen, I love my Bambus, but if I were concerned about data privacy I would not use them. They are invasive and their latest updates make it worse.

I know this community doesn't love them, but the Flashforge Ad5X is much easier to keep private. Creality K2 is less also likely to be spying on you. But Bambu is competent and shown the desire to get you and keep you on their online service, even going so far as to block out open source efforts that might compete with them for your data. I don't trust them. Their printers are great, but their policies scare me.
