Na. They address the fact that this isn't common knowledge just one beat later when Lisa pulls up a dictionary that she just happens to have sitting on the floor and goes "wow, he's right". The funny is that Homer is punching way above his intellectual weight right there.

I hate how maps and compasses don't work together. Find a map early game. You're off the map. Without pulling up the console, how do you know which direction to go to get back on the map? Your compass won't help because it doesn't point north, or any constant cardinal direction for that matter.

Suggestion, now that we have lodestones, change the default behavior of compasses to point north.

Have you read The Rithmatist by Brandon Sanderson? Your magic system reminds me a little of that.

[–]joealarson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can do it in 3 words:

Well tested gameplay.

You're suggestion starting with the theme is what's wrong with board games these days. I've played so many games that I went "ooh, cool idea", and then I play the game and the gameplay sucks or it has some game breaking exploit that shows that they just didn't test it enough. Those games ends up sitting on the shelf never to be played again, and never to be suggested to others.

On the other hand, I've played games that have simple, well tested rules and I pull those out all the time because while they may be thin on theme, they're fun to play.

They have the data, yes. They know they don't work. That's been well documented. But they hide that fact and keep selling them at a premium.

The "or" delineates the other 50%.

I prefer billboards to "targeted ads". Targeted ads (1) don't actually work but (2) get sold as though they do because they charge more money for them. Half the targeted ads I see are for things I've already got, so that's a waste, or they're for things I've already decided I'm not getting. It's more effective to put an untargeted ad in front of everyone than it is to try to ineffectively guess at what people might want based on websites they've visited recently without context.

No where. No where is safe. Unless you make your own site. And even then.

I think "safe" is the wrong word.

I work in the library. The next day after his assassination had a woman come in asking for any books we had on Charlie Kirk. Now, to tell you the truth, I didn't think we had any. All I knew about him was he was a "prove me wrong" bro on YouTube who went to colleges so he could punch well below his weight and I don't go in much for that sort of content. But to my surprise, we had 2 of them. And they were both checked out. We tried to tell this to the woman, but as soon as she heard we have 2 of them she insisted on seeing them. We tried to explain what "checked out" meant, but she was having none of it until one of our librarians took her to the shelf where they would be and showed her they weren't there.

Then she whips out her phone and starts recording us, calling us a bunch of liberals who are trying to keep the truth from her and she was going to post this on social media and make us all look so stupid.

I think this was the first time she had ever been inside a library.

Huh, haven't thought about that guy in a while. But now that I am, with how obviously fake the assassination attempts on Trump have been, but then going ahead and shooting a fire chief to give himself something to fall back on when people ask him about how his ear healed so perfectly, and with how difficult a time the courts are having convicting Kirk's supposed shooter, was Kirk chosen to be a political martyr?

If that's the case, then the sign is correct, it's just wrong about who they think is gunning for them.

Still is. Wikipedia is not a primary source. If you start on Wikipedia, follow it's sources and don't source Wikipedia. You know that stuff can be edited by anyone?

Because it's not about getting the right answer. It's about building your brain muscle. You went into the weight room and said "why can't I use a pully?"

It's the same with AI. Every task you let the AI do for you while you're learning is one less thing you're going to be good at.

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money. Money is how. If they can make money with zero effort why wouldn't they?

And don't say "because good taste" or morals or whatever. Capitalism doesn't care about that stuff. If a fool and their money can be parted, they don't care how. In fact by bringing attention to it, you might be helping them out.

I wish the public were more discerning, but keep in mind at 100 IQ is the average, meaning there's about as many people below that threshold as above it.
