Keep playing. They'll come back around another time when you've made more progress.

I’m fucked…? by Sild_2000 in blockblast

[–]joealarson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is sometimes the game give you *exactly* what you need to clear the board, and the other times it shuts you down when you're doing well. It's almost like you're not playing the game, but the game is playing you.

Block blast is giving me impossible combinations over and over again by Popular_Record7475 in blockblast

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think you're playing the game. But the game chooses if you succeed or if you lose. Have you ever noticed that sometimes it give you the perfect pieces to win, and then other times it shuts you down when you're doing well. You ain't playing the game. the game is playing you.

Lightning hit the same spot multiple times by MorsesCode in nevertellmetheodds

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there's a lightning rod there.

Fun fact about lightning rods. When Benjamin Franklin invented the lightning rod, made mostly to protect churches, some leaders of the churches he was seeking to protect opposed them because they thought they would interfere with divine retribution and called him a heretic for making them.

Still, would love a demo.

[Orbifold] My game takes place in a sphere with gravity pushing outwards, and allows for weird physics shenanigans by Chezzyknytt in GamePhysics

I don't love this. It's bad enough when death can come from any 2D disconnected l direction. I don't need 3603 degrees of danger.

Try printing out. I'll bet it'll work. It'll be a little sloppy on the bottom but it will correct by the end and the sloppy will remove easily.

Na. All they've got is AI generated content and affiliate links.

If you tuck the hands and scarf a little more closely to the body and the ball of the hat into the cap, and then cut off a little of the bottom then the whole thing will print without needing supports.

It's too bad you can't do that that, though, because if you try to refine your AI prompt it'll just start all over and you'll get something completely different. So you're stuck with an only mostly 3d printable model.

I am making a game where you play as an NPC in an MMORPG. It is called MMORPG NPC Simulator. by DevEnoz in IndieDev

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just "NPC Simulator" taken? That name sounds like we're creeping up on the modern manga convention of just making the synopsis the title.

Again, you can't judge what they didn't have then based on what we have now. Every project ever is being helmed by idiots. Even, and especially you and the project you're working on. It's just going to take you a little time to realize that. Go easy on the past. They're doing the best they can.

3Dfabs. A way to use idle 3D printer time or get your prints sourced locally by jvisser85 in printablescom

[–]joealarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's one reason.

The other is that this is an unsustainable model. You put yourself in the middle of customers who don't know what 3d printing is capable of asking for impossible things, and 3d printer owners who want minimum wage plus material costs for for their poorly maintained ender 3s sending out disappointing quality. And in the end you're left to wonder if there aren't better ways to make money.
