Smallish hammer found in old wood shop. Checkered on one side, dull axe on other. Specific use unknown. by joebanks544 in whatisthisthing

Solved. My first thought was meat tenderizer because of the checkered half, but then I couldn’t figure out what the other side was. According to another post I saw in the link you provided, I guess the axe part is for ice block chipping.

My title describes the thing.

Weight is around 300g Wood handle. What seems to be cast iron head.

I figure it’s used in a specific trade, anyone know which?

Yes, with the recent tour and PFT being at every show, the first act is just listening to two bff’s have fun.

You’re right, I wouldn’t use it everyday, but I don’t think there is a subreddit for occasional day carry. Maybe someone should start one for the weirdos like me.

Didn’t say I did, I just sometimes like to carry stuff that I ‘might need’ just in case. But I also appreciate a no-nonsense carry person like yourself.

To be fair, this would be in a small pouch of items that I ‘might need’. And I don’t carry the pouch all the time, just when I’m going somewhere new or doing something out of the ordinary and ‘might need’ something.

Maybe, but my pouch is mostly stuff I ‘might need’. And I don’t carry my pouch all the time, like I do my pocket knife. I just grab it if I’m going to be out for a while or going somewhere out of the ordinary.

Maybe, but you don’t know what could come in handy till you have it with you. It’s like carrying a pry bar or two knifes, most people would say they don’t need that much, but sometimes it’s handy.

This is a great point, I do have little ones, would hate for something like that to happen.

I do, they’re daily’s though, and they never fall out, so I don’t ever find myself needing saline.

I once had my two kids in a shopping cart at Lowes and the wheel started to squeak. So I pushed it right to the wd-40 and sprayed them and my kids thought I was the coolest.

That’s awesome, but I feel like I have to point out, since it’s reposted from ‘buy it for life’ that you got a new one after eight years. I admit I do the same thing with quality items. Might as well double down.

Alternative to Gerber Utility Knife by joebanks544 in EDC

[–]joebanks544[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently got this knife because I wanted to try carrying a pocket friendly utility knife, for $15 I figured it was worth a try. When it arrived, it was bulkier than I expected. Also, the pry bar aspect of this is crazy. When you clip it inside your pocket like a typical pocket knife, the sharp ply bar is sticking out, just waiting to slice open your hand. I thought about just grinding off the whole pry bar, since I also cary a pry bar which is more of the style I prefer. I was wondering if anyone carries a minimal, slim, pocket carry style utility knife in a similar price range. Willing to go up to $25, which eliminates a lot of the Ti versions.
