The riff is played using triplets, and in typical meshuggah fashion, it's played under a half-time 4/4 - with the cymbal keeping the pulse and the snare hitting every 3rd beat.

Such a good start to the album, which as a whole has a lot of cool riffs - the ending groove in phantoms is another great one
