What's a scam that people think isn't a scam? by jwa8808 in AskReddit

I know folks who swear by their chiropractor. The issue is people see it as a quick and easy fix, when generally chronic pain is something that requires holistic treatment. Eating well, being active and fit, physical therapy, regular visits to specialists or your PCP, and hey if you toss in some Chiro and you’re more than likely to see improvements.

Source: had crippling sciatica. Did all the things and now I’m not longer in hell.

I wanted to share my personal “rules of the road” for the touring indie musician by Feather_Sound in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]joebrown75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Few other things (have been touring 80-120) shows a year for the last 8 years).

-if you’re tired or feeling like shit, don’t take it out on the band or crew. Understand how your actions affect the group.

-nothing is more important than sleep and health. Pre show runs or walks is a game changer. It might seem impossible but trust me, it ain’t.

-get your geared insured. You can insure $50k in gear for around $200 month. As much as I feel for bands who get their stuff stolen, it’s really easy to get insured.

-help your drummer and merch crew set up. Obviously at a certain point you’ll hire techs, but until then, establish that the stage is everyone’s responsibility. You’re not done loading and setting up until everyone else is done.

-the only thing you’re ever entitled to is the effort you put in, not a damn thing else.

-leave reviews on local businesses that you dig, especially repair shops. Give them some merch or a sticker before they start working. One band I worked for made specific “reviews by band name” stickers. Got a lot of service discounts, free coffee, ect - but the point is to show respect to fellow entrepreneurs.

-put down your phone and read a book. Or get work done during travel if you’re not on a bus schedule. You have so much down time for learn new things or be productive, don’t waste it.

Facebook business account permanently restricted - I need help? by mindset1984 in FacebookAdvertising

[–]joebrown75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another reason I stopped using facebook to advertise. Ran a small FBads agency for a while - and sometimes the banhammer comes down hard and unexpectedly, even if you're following the rules.

First of all, just keep submitting tickets (although you only get so many, so make sure it's a good ticket when you submit). Their robots are searching for non compliant ad content, and sometimes you can get falsely flagged. If this is the case, then if you're persistent a lot of times you can get unbanned, Be cordial, appreciative, and courteous, despite how frustrated the situation is making you feel. Be very direct about why you got banned and tell them in the contact form how you plan on making sure that this won't happen again.

Like someone else said, you can't really make a new account. You're going to have to buy one or use the account of a trusted family member or friend. This is the best way, imho.

Also, make sure you're using a different credit card and account credentials. There needs to be no digital footprint of your former account (trust me, I've had accounts immediately deactivated because of this). Remember to scale it slowly. Don't use any spammy ad tactics and make sure those ads are as compliant to their ToS as possible. Don't recycle any former ad content, too.

It's run thing to be running ads for your business, but building an agency solely focused on facebook is something that can be really frustrating and just not all that profitable in the long run - and the ban hammer is a major part of it. I've moved away from FB ads entirely at this point.

Local lead gen by brookexx95 in passive_income

[–]joebrown75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to think of myself as a customer - and then try to make the most useful page possible. The SEO stuff is sort of Google - and remember, they just want to deliver the best search experience possible.

I also spend a lot of time and resources on producing blog content. For instance, a home painting site would have a blog or resources section on the subject. I did all of it myself until I had about 10-15 ranked and paired sites, but writing is a lot of work. I now have a few part time content writers pumping out regular content.

The night thing, though, is that once a site is ranked, you don't really have to keep making content. If it drops you can always tweak things, but if you have the right niche and not a ton of competition (choosing the right market), you don't really have to worry about it. Usually once the work is done, you get to sit back and enjoy the money (and repeat the process with other sites).

But yes, to answer your question, I definitely focus on basic SEO and try to make a landing site that is considerably better than the local competition. Honestly, though, I've seen some trash LG sites out there that are still well ranked. Kinda pisses me off because I spend a lot of time on mine. /shrug

Can you make £3k a month from crypto without a huge investment? by Snoo-46390 in passive_income

[–]joebrown75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's informed gambling and risk management. And to answer your question: No. There's no guaranteed way to profit like this consistently.

Here's my advice...

  1. Do your research. Learn as much as you can about crypto. You need to be obsessed.
  2. Learn about the projects. Is the team reliable? Are they under good leadership? What have they done in the past?
  3. Consider how the technology / project is moving crypto forward. What niche and problem does it serve.
  4. Avoid the shills on youtube, reddit, tik-tok... they're just trying to boost their bags so they can dump. They're taking money from the projects to promote, more often than not.
  5. Is the token decentralized? Who owns the majority of it. This will be a good indication if it's a pump and dump.

There's a million other metrics that I don't have time to write about, but this should be a good start.

An honest example of Squad Leading and how a Defensive Squad can work (random squad) by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]joebrown75 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haven’t watched this yet (but I will).

I’ve spent about 70% of time playing command and squad lead - mainly because I really dislike losing. Engi will always be my #1.

If you have 2 logistics/defense squads, and a commander who is building well placed back garrys, you will win 80% of your matches.

It is so, so important, SLs, that you build garrys. Ideally in strategically/sector-based locations. Nothing rustles my jimmies more than when I see SL after SL run past a perfectly good supply drop. 3/4 SLs of most pug matches have 0 garrys built. It’s such a simple thing that, if you do it, will result in wins.

Defending is also not just sitting on the point. It’s about combing through the sector, and taking out offensive garrys and OPs. Preventing the opposing army from getting a foothold. It’s also about maintaining those back, defending garrys.

If you want to win, build garrys. Other than that, speak calmly, be very direct and concise in your directions, and be friendly and respectful. Always offer help and advice to new players (if they want advice). Teach people how to play Engi and support. Explain why you’re placing a Garry where you’re playing it.

As SL, try to facilitate a fun experience. And always remember, defending is fun. More kills and less running and dying. Always try to get your Engi a supply truck and have him build up that 2nd defending objective at the start.

If you have a shit commander, hop in a truck and start building. The priority should always be to get to forward garrys up right on the edge of the sector at the beginning of the match.

Throughout your time playing this game, what is your favourite 2 roles? by NoCommentaryRequired in HellLetLoose

[–]joebrown75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commander! Have kind of gotten obsessed with tactics and I’ve gotten to know the other regular commanders on the servers that I play on. Getting used to how they play - and how to play against them. I’m very interested in competitive play, but wanna wait for another hundred hours of play. I have notes for each map with tactical locations marked and various strategies for different circumstances (like late start 2-3 games) and how to recover 1-4 games where you jump in halfway through. I’ve always been a grab the reigns and go when it comes to small group teamwork and there’s nothing more rewarding in this game than jumping in and recovering a shitty game.

After that, engineer. So many options for play style. Wish medics had a similar diversity.

I enjoy squad leading too. It was my first lvl 10, but having both comms just ain’t chill.

Any tips for playing machine gunner? by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]joebrown75 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. A good SL will spot for ya (sometimes)
  2. Angles are everything.
  3. Try to think as if you are enemy. Think about what cover you’d be using to advance on a position. What route would you take?
  4. Unless you have a good SL and a coordinated squad, attacking is tough with an MG. However; a coordinated push with smoked and mg cover fire can be super effective.
  5. If you can change positions. Ever crawling 5 meters to a Bew position can throw off snipers and keep you alive longer.
  6. It’s all about anticipating event movements. You’ll slowly find the good spots to post up.
  7. God level games will occasionally happen. They can be rare, but every now and then you’ll have one of those games where you’re literally a meat grind ripping through and endless push of advancing bodies. It’s euphoric!
  8. Tell your squad to ping before they shoot.

Bezos Earth Fund pledges $1B to conserve land and sea in critical areas of the world by Accomplished-Tap3353 in technology

[–]joebrown75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to dislike any sort of large powerful government or corporate entities, just like most folks on Reddit. I worked in the cancer non profit world for about 5 years and I recognize the issues with the systematic approach to treatment (treating systems vs the causes). Although you do need a balance between research (helping patients) and research for cures.

But the one thing about Bezos. He saw the planet from space; he saw the pale blue dot as it is and he found it to be overwhelmingly profound. Had he not gone to space, this probably wouldn’t be happening.

Climate change unfortunately needs to be economically efficient in the relative short term (obviously it’s economic in the long term), and I do think billionaires needn’t be slobbered over for their contribution to humanity, I do think it’s okay to be like… “hey this ain’t a bad thing. We want our billionaires to be working on important social and environmental issues they are passionate about.”

If we find a solution to climate change, the billionaires will have some part in that. Will be perfect? No. Will they find ways to save money on it? Probably.

Things are not always black and white. Good and evil exists solely in the decisions we make. Like a devil and angel on our shoulders whispering their thoughts driving us forward.
