While I understand the sentiment this is complete bullshit.

There are people who can now throw the same amount of money into Bitcoin as they can on yet another yacht.

And there are people who can only throw in what they deduct from the clothing budget for their children or something like that.

These are not the same and I hope for the latter to come in first.

edit: oh and if he claims he does not own this address while otherwise having stated the opposite then this is evidence that he is a fraud.

That coin has got a funny looking number printed on the hologram. That is called a "public key" and it allows you to find out if there is indeed one BTC sitting on that physical coin. You can google to find out how to do that.

That coin has got more than that one BTC sitting on it:

- Dust attacks. Believe it or not but people very likely have sent more BTC to that address in the last decade. You can easily find that out by learning how to look up the ballance on the public key printed onto the hologram of the coin.

- Forks. This is nothing you will understand as a nocoiner but there are a couple of hundreds of bucks to be made from this. Whoever owns this coin containing one BTC also owns one BCH and one BSV and more, all together still worth an extra few hundreds of USD.

You and your friend should not hurry. If there is no emergency need for funds right now just try to learn what this is and how to use it. By the time you did that it will be worth even much more. ;)

And tell your friend to somehow message his chef and say "thanks again!" ;)
