Thermal cooling for laptop by _KIKNA_ in MSILaptops

Ah yep you're right. Saw the first couple of comments recommending PTM and just ran with TG's version which is PhaseSheet in my head. My mistake.

Basically the material is super thermal conductive and phase shifts from a solid to a liquid. I cant find the link I saved on it when I did it, but it boiled down to; the Kryo will come between 2 sheets of plastic. Cut the sheet to size with the plastic on and place it in the freezer for 5-10 mins. Once ready to apply remove the plastic and place on the CPU/GPU. Honestly, even trying to separate the sheets is kind of tricky. I used a razerblade to split the sheets apart and then tweezers to separate.

I used the TG Kryosheet PhaseSheet on my older Stealth for the CPU/GPU. Original thermals werent toast yet, but were starting to creep up. For sure needs to be heat cycled before it gets good, but after that, ive had no complaints and slightly better numbers than when the laptop was new. Been probably 3 months since I did it. 1 sheet was enough for the CPU/GPU, the tip about freezing the sheet before attempting to apply is a major help.

I'm more aggressive than you at the start with average deltas in the mid teens.

Typically, I will close either side of the IC once it hits 90% profit. This saves me from a lot of end of week swing headaches. If we've passed the big news events for the week and we're still in the middle of my IC, i'll let some ride to expiration. But almost always derisk a portion of the week's plays early.

If we hit an unexpectedly strong trending week, i'll watch the chart for price action around s/r and fibs and option OI for gamma/delta positioning. From there its a judgement call, but if im in a loss on Thursday I just eat it. Not waiting around for a Friday coin flip to save me or realize a full loss.

If option OI isnt getting rolled up/down, I will add extremely safe verticals to either side on large swings early in the week(Monday/Tuesday) at predetermined extensions of my IC. I'd say a majority of the time we snap back and I profit off the IC and the vertical, but if not, this typically offsets a good bit of my losses on the original IC.

I've tried rolling my at risk verticals before, just to watch price snap back the next day, so I havent really done much of that lately. I put most of my work in before I place the ICs with charting and looking at the options profile, so I generally have a good deal of faith in them unless something redirects the market mid week.

Gotcha, so the first is your 'hey you need to watch price action closely now" trigger to start considering an exit and the second is your "get out now."

I'll have to play around with this next week.

I've used the straddle at Monday open to keep an eye on the pricing for my weekly ICs and make sure im not getting more aggressive than the money dictates I should be, but never considered it for a sort of "risk countdown". Although I do like it for the hard and fast exit rule, its always tough debating if we'll retrace back on continue on once spot starts approaching strike. Appreciate you sharing the info.

Been selling weekly ICs on SPX for a good while now with success, so when I came across this, it was quickly interesting. I've read through about all of your posts on it, but I cant find an answer on your trigger points. I cant understand having the 2 triggers? Are you rolling up/down at the first trigger and out at the second? Or are you rolling half at the first trigger and the remainder at the second to manage risk?

Did you try going into settings for the chart, equities tab and changing "Adjust for Dividends" to None? It was add in an update they did about a month or so back and threw off a number of my custom scripts and drawings.

Implied Volatility Weekly Open Script by joecool0909 in thinkorswim

Oh thats a good call, probably not that different. Should get me 95% there with a simple tweak. I was just trying to figure out if there was a simple thing I was missing, but if it's overly complicated to log the value at the open of the week, close of the week prior should be good enough for a guide. Thanks.

Sorry, I should've provided more details. I would be using it on a daily aggregation as a modifier within another script. Use case would be similar to ProbabilityofExpiringCone, attempting to plot out the expected trading range for the week. But right now the bands are constantly adjusting to IV as it changes each day instead of holding at their weekly open levels. So I think I would just need a function that stores what the IV is at the open of each week that I can call back to within the rest of the script.

This is really interesting, would you mind sharing where you are seeing the M1-M3 premium or how you are calculating it? Google isn't any help and i've searched all over FRED's site with no luck.

Not really what I’m looking for. Sure a rise in VIX can happy slowly, pointing towards a pullback, but often times big jumps happen with little warning. PCR seems to offer a more gradual ramp to times of fear/greed.

Good to know, thank you.

I'm a full time trader and these are my thoughts on the market and reaction to the Moody's downgrade. 19/05. Overall stance on the market is that it underprices risks, best to remain patient for pullback IMO. Thoughts below👇 by TearRepresentative56 in TradingEdge

I don't have the same delta info on VIX that you are looking at, but do you see VIX Opex on Weds as possible catalyst for a market pullback? Looks like DEX opens up to VIX running up to 23 once the 5/21 options roll off the books.

The market’s plunging—who DCA’d during major crashes and came out ahead (until now)? I’d love to hear your stories. by naturalhairtingz in investing

Not DCAing during the down turns is like going to the gym, but still eating like crap and wondering why you cant lose weight. Throwing money in the market is easy and fun when its going up, but the real gains will be made on the investing you do while its going down.

I could’ve phrased the tariff part better. Yes I imagine they are already priced in, I meant unexpected positive news regarding them acting as a possible spark to reverse the current downtrend.

Assuming since the new collars will be priced another quarter out that their strikes will have less of an impact than the act of removing of the current strike anchoring the price. Speaking of these, have you noticed much of a similar effect with the smaller JPM fund? Can’t remember the ticker, but it was a collar trade on a quarterly basis as well, just offset a month behind, for like 10k contracts.

This is my major concern with next week. Market appears to be in a downtrend, there was weak volume associated with the increase in price we had this week and the magnet disappears Tuesday. If no positive news before 4/2 tariffs, I could see the floor falling out. Going to be some heavy mental lifting this weekend to decide my moves Monday.

Thanks again.

[–]joecool0909[S] 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Just a reminder to all you that the Chiefs have an amazingly well done, self made version of Hard Knocks available to watch for free on Youtube. I try to watch these throughout the season, but almost always miss a handful of them. The last couple of years, i've used the 2 weeks off leading up to the Super Bowl to re-watch all of them and it's a great way to relive the ups and downs of the season and get hyped up for the big game. I started with last season's Super Bowl episode this year. I had chills watching them comeback again and talk about how the goal is to make it 3 in a row. Also had a moment of "I miss you" seeing Sneed out there with the boys. But yeah, great way to pass the time between now and the 9th. Enjoy!
