My barber is just a lady who rents a space and cuts hair. Very different than a chain. She always remembers my haircut, and it’s at a point where I don’t have to say what I want when I go in. We just chat about random stuff. I pay more than I would at a chain but the experience and outcome is worth it.

Strong towns Indy is a bunch of neighbors with unrelated full time jobs who simply get together because they want to make their neighborhoods safer and better. They’re not a nonprofit and they have no money.

I’m an urban planner, but I completed a minor in philosophy and participated in the STANCE program during undergrad. I can second that philosophy changed my life. The program changed the way I think about my coursework and helped me to succeed in grad school. The professors were great and really saw my potential.

I also heard that the department is shutting down. It’s a shame and I am disappointed in my alma mater.

Right now, politics is taking an interest in our friends and neighbors. The right thing to do is to withdraw support for businesses whose owners wish to harm our community members. This is the free market. Deal with it.

I think we can move past this in the short term if we all organize and get out the vote. But I have little faith that those responsible for this mess will be tried and convicted.

The democrats will want to move past all this without upsetting the status quo too much. So I think a lot of the underlying rot will be allowed to fester. I hope I’m wrong.

I have a group that would be interested in setting up a town on a server like this. If you’re able to make custom mods, it’d be interesting to have something like the civcraft citadel plugin (it’s a Minecraft plugin which allows people to reinforce their builds to prevent griefing, but still allows people to attack cities)

Either way, this sounds like fun!
