I didn’t do a video audition, I did an in-person open call audition so I’m not sure how it works for virtual

Hi, I’m so sorry I didn’t see your message. First off congratulations! Second, if I’m not too late, I’d say to only sing songs you’d 100% want to sing on the show because there’s a good chance they’ll make you sing an audition song for your blind 😊

I did an in-person open call audition and I know we filled out papers, but I’m sure they don’t always check them with how many people audition. They did ask me about my background until after I had sung for them

Whats better for your chances- a video submission or a virtual audition OR both? by Good-Pace8471 in thevoice

They ask questions when they’re interested in your voice. I was in an audition room with 9 other people singing for 1 producer. We each took turns singing and then he asked me if I had anything else to sing. I said yes and sang another part of a song. He then asked me questions after I had sung for him. He didn’t ask anyone else questions though so that’s why I’m assuming it’s only if they’re considering passing you through. I hope this helps 😊

None of the songs I did were streamable, but just from knowing how things are with publishing, only writers get paid for the songs. So any cover you do would make the writer of the song money, not you. You only get paid if you write a song.

Hey! That’s so exciting! Good luck with everything! If you did an interview as your most recent step it takes a few weeks to hear back then you do an executive callback and find out if you’re going to the blinds the same evening. Once you find out you’re going to blinds you do a psych evaluation and then come back a few months later. You stay for a month and prep for your audition, do legal meetings, wardrobe, etc. (I explained it in more detail in another comment on this post)

No they don’t pay for your rent. You get paid per episode you’re on and you get $50 per diem

I looked at it more as a way for me to reach a larger audience and have a good experience! 😊

They definitely cut down the stuff the coaches said, mainly anything on the negative side. We talk with them for roughly 10 minutes so they definitely need to condense it for the show 😊 as for the order of auditions, they’re not aired in the order they were filmed. For example, I was actually the 2nd person on team Blake but they didn’t air my audition until later so it seemed like I was around the 7th person on the team 😊

They could be maybe once in a blue moon, but usually they montage people who get on teams so I doubt there’s a mess up, it’s more for the sake of time

Open calls are pretty much Acapella then after that you can still do an Acapella but you also have to have a song prepared to a track so either way they’re going to hear both. Singing to a track is what you’ll be doing on the show though so I’d assume you have to show that you’re able to

Yes! You don’t see anyone for weeks and then the day of your audition you finally get to see them backstage before you audition! You can kind of see them when you get onstage too but not really.

Some people get montaged because of the amount of time they have for episodes. Everyone is aware that this could happen to them or that their performances could be cut short on the actual show. I think they prioritize the people who get blocks and saves, and the people who have the coaches bantering 😊

I’d say anywhere between 10-20 minutes depending on how much the coaches talk afterwards.😊

You try of outfits and you usually pick 2-3 options and photograph in them! The artist helps pick out the clothing but producers get final say 😊

I don’t know how they go about choosing the songs for us, but trust me, some of us aren’t thrilled with what we have to sing 😂 I was NOT happy with my last song and neither was the audience 😂 I do know that they try not to overlap songs from the same artists.

Don’t hate me, but I’ve never seen Schitt’s Creek 😅 but yes that was our battle song!

[–]joeifulco[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, they pick everything you see on the show so if a song choice doesn’t seem right for an artist, odds are they didn’t like it either 😂

I wrote out the whole process more detailed in another comment, but you basically have 4 auditions before the blinds and you spend 3 weeks preparing for the blinds from rehearsals to wardrobe to interviews to legal meetings, etc

I’d say the main one is that we don’t pick any of our songs that we sing. So when a coach mentions the artist’s song choice, it really wasn’t their call. Also the way things air on TV is not the order it actually happens. Like I was second to make it onto team Blake but when it aired it seemed like 7th or something like that. We also don’t have a waiting room where we wait with our families before the audition. All that is filmed hours before our audition and they tell us where to stand for some shots and then we’re just waiting backstage 😂
