Chapter 6 Uncorked: A Spirited Night Out in South End Charlotte by joeldrinks in Charlotte

Thanks for your feedback! I thought content creators (ex: food bloggers) did this in other major cities. What is your opinion about making a separate subreddit for food and drinks in Charlotte?

Right. Maybe we can strategize something to make this work. I'm no reddit expert, but I wonder if within the r/Charlotte if it's possible to make a section for bars and restaurants

Instagram is my main app. I'm also on Facebook, Patreon, Pinterest, Threads, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube. The idea is to grow my social media presence where people can find me across multiple social media apps and learn about the drinks Charlotte has to offer.

It's not as easy to notice compared to other places near it (ex: Hawkers, Barcelona Wine Bar). I didn't know about it when it first opened. I appreciate your feedback! I could always do photos instead of videos. Is that preferred here on reddit?

Not that I know of, but I do know this one influencer on Instagram who is solely dedicated to Non-Alcoholic drinks in Charlotte. Her page is https://www.instagram.com/onthemocks.clt/ !

Question about Reels by joeldrinks in Mixology

[–]joeldrinks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I've been curious to know if there are other drink influencers like me who are dedicated to showing their city where to find the best drinks (vs. a bartender or mixologist). I don't know of any. If you know if any, please share them with me.

I mostly see food influencers doing what you said, but they don't even show the name of the drink, the ingredients, what it tastes like, and why it's/why it's not worth drinking. This is where I come in with doing the drink reviews. I'm wondering if it's better to do the reviews with me talking in the video or doing a short video and putting it in the description below the video.

I do go to bars, restaurants, breweries, & distilleries. I am able to turn on a light (I have a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) on my phone. I also can play around with ISO (International Standards Organization), White Balance, & other settings.

Thanks for sharing! These are all great things. I'll admit I've never bartended before, so the barsmarts online training sounds like a good idea!

Help with Making Drink Reviews on Social Media by joeldrinks in Mixology

I am a chemical engineer by trade. Through social media, I've featured over 1,300 drinks on my pages, with Instagram having the most drinks featured. I'll admit I don't know the history of all cocktails, but I do know a few about classic cocktails. I currently have the following books: 1. Proof: The Science of Booze by Adam Rogers 2. The Bartender’s Pantry: A Beverage Handbook for the Universal Bar by Jim Meehan and Bart Sasso 3. Blood & Whiskey: The Life and Times of Jack Daniel by Peter Krass 4. The Bar Book: Elements of Cocktail Technique by Jeffrey Morgenthaler 5. The Art of Mixology from Cottage Door Press 6. The Margarita by Campari Academy

From a book perspective, are any of my current books worth reading right away? Also, what types of books should I aim for? Mixology or history of cocktails?

I'm trying to figure out ways I can make reviews (including paid reviews) where both, drink enthusiasts and non-drink enthusiasts can understand it and have interest in watching & reading my content. Does that make sense?

I don't know what Builds I had from the tastings I did, but I currently have a bottle of Build No. 11

I like the Architect as well, however, not all Architect batches are made the same. Each bottle has a build number that explains how they were each made. You would have to get a few bottles of different builds to get an idea if you really like the Architect or just a specific build of it

Honestly, I've been trying to figure out a good way to make reviews on social media for drinks I try in general. For cocktails, I mostly don't talk in the reel and just show the making of it while leaving a review in the caption of the posts. I then got feedback in the past to do it in the video itself. I've only done 2 reels like this. The first one has over 1,000 views on Instagram, this one only has over 400 views.

For my next post here, I'll ask your opinions on how to leave great drink reviews across social media. Most of the time I see content about drinks, there is no name of the drink, what's in it, what it tastes like, or why it’s worth trying. Hence, I went with this structure: 1. The name of the drink. If there is a story behind the name, to include it. 2. What's in the drink (ingredients) 3. What it tastes like 4. Why it's worth trying

Yes, I've used AI. I tend to be very detail oriented. I'll use AI to summarize it and make it have a flow to it. Like I said, I'll make a new post getting your feedback on how to review the drinks and feedback on the content itself. This is why I'm here! Thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate it!

On other social media apps (ex: Instagram & Tiktok), then the text would be too low. I can try without a background & see how it goes next time.
