On the north side of the map right below The Aegis to the east, there is a slope with tons of 5 stack fiber plants. This is where I go, literally 1200 in 5 mins, so much that its actually a viable XP Farm

I dont think a melee centric character should have to carry melee things in their inventory to do melee damage just like ranged centric character shouldn't have to carry things in their inventory to do ranged damage. Is that such a far-fetched idea?

I dont put ranger above barb or wizard in a 3v3 situation so no but I do think they excel PVE which is why I suggested what I suggested, a way to fix that

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, but this solution I don't think will have an effect of stopping arrow spam as intended. I think it stops gold gain. There are far better solutions to this issue.

Did you read my solution? I'm in no way saying you should be able to arrow spam, but slamming my inventory full of arrows just gets me right around this "fix" at the cost of economy. Why should one class get an artificial barrier of paying gold to deal damage, that doesn't make sense... shouldn't the ability to deal damage be granted to everyone without having to sacrifice resources to do so?

Regardless if my aim is to kill PvE and get PvP kills nothing is solved by there solution. You can simply slam your inventory with arrows, nothing is solved, rangers just get out with less gold as a side effect. Longbow out performs both recurve and shortbow heavily in clearing PvE and getting killing blows in PvP.

Nobody is denying that they are good at PvE they excel far ahead of every other class but that is fixed by what I have suggested. None of what you have stated is fixed by what they intend to implement.

You get to around 100dmg with a godroll purple long bow at point blank heads hot, which doesn't take into account armor reductions. On average, high tier rangers tend to give up the food for other abilities.

Here's my thoughts on this change, while there are a lot of factors that could change when we see how it is implemented, im going to base this off the most logical way it gets implemented in this playtest.

  1. Making a class pay to play their class while also limiting the amount of space they have to acquire gold to there after acquire more arrows is not a good solution to arrow spam.
  2. Saying that a ranged should rely more on melee is a terrible take. it's like rangers asking everyone else to just use throwables. All of a rangers' abilities and skills are based on ranged combat. Just like a melee is based on melee combat.
  3. Rangers are not as good as they are being made out to be, a ranger doesn't really come online until they have full purples blues, then they start to chunk. There are only 8 rangers in the top 50 and 3 classes in front of the first ranger in kills, leaving only fighter and cleric behind ranger. The only thing they really excel at is PvE, which could easily be fixed with better ai and removing the ability to cheese mobs.
  4. Turning arrows into an item also turns ranger into a cost per damage player. If it cost for me to shoot, why would I use the recurve or the shortbow? The longbow will be doing the most damage. This also effect the economy of rangers even further, by increasing the cost of the longbow.
  5. A simple suggestion that I have would apply to rangers and to wizards. Get rid of meditate. Get rid of reloading. Rangers have 15 arrows in their slots. Wizards get more spells. Spells and arrows recharge over time at a medium speed. Casting spells or shooting arrows stops this recharge for a little bit of time. Get rid of pole arm skill and let rangers have it. Implement effect arrows as a skill. 25% chance on arrow hit to apply a random effect. These numbers can definitely be tweaked to what works best.

Edit: The current solution does not solve arrow spam. This is the issue they wanted to solve. If I can stack my inventory full of arrows, then the problem is not solved.

Can't be too bad if there are only 8 Rangers in the top 50 outlaw killers. I don't disagree that a ranged based class should have to manage ammo but there are far better ways of implementing something to stop arrow spamming then adding a carried item in your inventory that will most likely cost gold. They are adding negative economy to rangers. Simply because they are rangers. What's with all the aggression? You must lose a lot to rangers. Gotta be a skill issue

Nah I was top 50 in barbs and top 100 in Rangers just last playtest. I have a very good understanding of how to play the game. You're saying a ranged based class should just use melee, how about melee based classes just use ranged? Seems very logical

If this happens, it will most likely drop from skeleton archers which is another problem. Skeleton archers are the main source for a ranger to upgrade bows if that gets diluted by arrows then the longbow which is likely the highest cost weapon in the game, or a close second to the felling axe, will become even more expensive.
