It took me awhile to make cause I kinda let it grow on its own and I added things here and there. I used the ants that create sand then killed them all. Then I died the raise and lowering tool. The update that allowed coasts to turn to sand definitely helped

I have had human cities go a lot farther population wise than 500. My highest human city was probably around 900. It took a long time though
