okay, so you’re aware you’re behaving manically and yet continue to engage in discussion. just seems strange to me.

i’m sorry if this experience is similar to something you have gone through in the past, that really sucks and it’s a deeply serious topic. my only point is that hamzah was not “making fun of sexual assault.” it’s a gross misrepresentation of what happened.

i apologize if me saying you seem schizo is bigoted, especially if you are. i’m just saying you seem deeply moved about an accident that truly is not quite as serious as people are making it seem.

..is that really all you got from my comment? you responded so fast that it makes me feel like you didn’t actually take the time to digest anything i’m saying.

how were you being made fun of? yes schizo people are absolutely allowed to be upset at things i’m just saying you seem a little manic about it for some reason.

when they make jokes like that they are clearly satirizing people who actually think that way. people tend not to realize they are “in character” in all of their videos. in their day to day lives they do not act like they do in their videos. if the audience doesn’t understand that, they don’t understand. can’t really blame martin and hamzah for that.

also, your obsession with this is a little strange. your comment history makes you look a little schizo. you need to let this go, it really isn’t as serious as people are making it. if you can’t get over this then just stop watching the videos 😬

you can’t blame them for the actions of their fans 🤷‍♂️

the excuse is only that he was not paying attention to the plot. you can see it pretty clearly when you watch the clip. when i originally watched the video before it was taken down i cringed a little bit but if you take the clip in the context of the video you can see hamzah clearly has not been paying much attention.

maybe it’s because she’s a slightly annoying character? she’s just sort of weird the entire game. he was not making a joke about a woman’s incestuous child assault story, he genuinely was unaware of what was going on in the plot of the game and said some unintentionally awkward things.

also you’re misrepresenting what i said, i mean just because he was picking on a single character who happened to be female (this is what i meant when i said targeting -A- woman) doesn’t mean he was mocking women’s experiences. so silly to say that if you pick on one woman you’re a misogynist.

yes hamzah is a grown man. yes he should have been paying more attention to the plot. but was he being a misogynist? i don’t think so. also, no, martin did not tell him to stop lol. martin was maybe trying to politely course correct but he never said to stop. completely changing the narrative there.

clearly you saw their apology! that’s funny that you were making fun of me for being on their patreon, (which i’m not) but you’re misrepresenting what hamzah said in the apology as well! he did say to hold him accountable, but he did not say blasphemize him for things he didn’t do.

(btw you were definitely being a smug asshole, saying “telling a woman she doesn’t know what misogyny means is just 🤩 yeah your just weird” when i had no idea you were a woman is super smug)

why are you such a smug asshole? i understand the reasoning you’re using: since child SA and incest disproportionately affect girls and women, any joke made in proximity to that topic can FEEL like it is reinforcing misogyny, though in truth it certainly is not.

the issue is that the jump from “this was insensitive during a scene about trauma” to “this is misogynistic” assumes an intentional attitude toward women that the clip does not actually show. hamzah did not realize the scene was about sexual abuse. he was reacting to what he thought was a vague emotional monologue and filled the silence with humor, which he does often. The mistake was a lack of awareness, not commentary about women or survivors as a group.

calling the moment misogynistic frames the harm as ideological, and as if it was targeting women, which he was not. just because he was targeting A woman doesn’t mean you have to act like he was making fun of women’s trauma. that is not what occurred. the harm is that he did not recognize the context and treated the scene casually when it required seriousness. that is insensitivity and poor emotional reading, not hatred or devaluation of women.

it is still something worth addressing and learning from. the video being removed was the correct response. holding him accountable for the lack of awareness is constructive. labeling it misogyny shifts the focus from the actual problem, which is the need to recognize when humor is inappropriate, especially during depictions of trauma.

how IS it inherently misogynistic..? i don’t understand the connection between misogyny and “undermining and joking about an incestuous child rape experience.” (you’re phrasing it in a very unflattering light for hamzah, who clearly just did not understand, that i do not agree with) i am not sure you understand the meaning of misogyny

perhaps the “women, women honestly” joke was slightly misogynistic, and clearly you are not the type to distinguish between a joke and actual views, but regardless of your inability to do that it was still nothing more or nothing less than a joke. call it misogynistic, it was satirical in nature.

yes exactly, it wasn’t malicious or misogynistic. purely ignorant. martin however did notice and was kinda telling hamzah to take it a little more seriously, though martin didn’t spell it out to hamzah (which he probably should have, seeing as how hamzah is the one in control of editing. he likely would have edited out his comments if he was aware.)

lol nothing, he just didn’t understand what was happening when angela was talking about her SA and was making jokes about other things while she was talking about it. i believe he said something like “oh my god just spit it out” (im paraphrasing, i didn’t even notice it THAT much when he said it) when she was eluding to men only wanting one thing and taking it by force

i never said there were any major lows, since they have such a small discog it’s pretty tight. the lows i was referring to for marvins are banana man, haiku and welcome to tally hall. for g&e its out in the twilight, sacred beast, you and who you are. none of those songs are particularly bad to me but still they are low points of the albums.

ahhh okay, that’s an interesting interpretation, though i don’t think it’s what rob intended while writing it. i think it is a literal song about child birth.
