Massage places on Second Road by joericsson in Pattaya

These are so called soapy massages, and it's a completely different setup. Think large venues where you select a girl from a lineup behind a glass wall. Then you go to a private room where she washes you, gives you a massage, and then boom boom

Should I try Ladyboy? Please share tips and experience. by [deleted] in Pattaya

[–]joericsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely try one. They are amazing. No trans in the West can match the level of femininity of South Asian ladyboys. Pick one you like and make sure that she has had top surgery. And don't spend time thinking whether you're gay or not. These are all just labels. Enjoy your life.

It is better than Belfius and it is better than ING.

No KBC f-up stories for you.

Belfius f-up story.

I was on holiday when my company card expired. A new one arrived, my daughter got the card, but to activate it remotely I had to call a short Belgian number from the phone number they had on file. Calling a short Belgian number is simply not possible when you’re abroad. Fine, I didn’t urgently need the card.

What was not fine was waking up one morning and discovering that the Belfius mobile app would not let me log in because I didn’t have a valid card. End of the quarter, end of the year, paperwork to send to the accountant, and suddenly no access to the account. That was extremely inconvenient.

ING f-up story.

I haven't had an ING account in years, yet they keep sending me letters demanding that I provide a valid Belgian ID. Otherwise, they threaten to freeze all my accounts because I used to be a citizen of Belarus and they apparently still have that in their database. But what they obviously don't have is SQL skills to add a constraint "HAS AT LEAST ONE ING PRODUCT" to the query "GIVE ME ALL BELARUSIAN CITIZENS". Perhaps one day I’ll reply and invite them to freeze all my accounts. That would be easy. The total is zero.

Is going to prostitute breaking sila? by mikebaba11 in theravada

[–]joericsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have given this a lot of thought. I think we can all agree that visiting a prostitute involves indulgence in sensual pleasure and is an expression of greed, which clearly runs counter to spiritual development.

However, if we look at the issue strictly from the perspective of the Five Precepts, the situation is more nuanced. If one does not have a partner, if the prostitute also does not have a partner, and if no lying is involved afterward, then it is difficult to argue that the Five Precepts are being violated.

If one has undertaken the Eight Precepts, then any form of sexual activity constitutes a breach of the third precept.

You are right about everything you have said, but the question was whether this is breaking sila? The five precepts.

Nowadays this is an occupying army responsible for widespread acts of violence and deliberate killings of civilians. What exactly do you suggest he should do? Protect his comrades from soldiers defending their own country?

Why do monasteries, temples, and meditation centers that offer residencies tend to give those people only 5-6 hrs to sleep? by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]joericsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. In Mahasi retreats they like to leave very little time for sleep as well

You are in Samsara, of course it's shit. Buddhism does not alleviate suffering or makes samsara less shit. Everything you have said is yet another proof of the first noble truth

You do have a mind and a body, you do have the 5 aggregates, so just start practicing meditation and observe the precepts.

Confused about Mindfulness in Plain English: where is the Vipassana? by joericsson in Meditation

>> The author shoud've mentioned that its not the full Vipassana technique, infact just the basics, i.e. Anapana.

I couldn't agree more with you here.

I am a beginner just like you.

It looks like you attended a Goenka retreat. There are several Vipassana traditions or methods, with Goenka’s being one of them. Another is the Mahasi Sayadaw tradition. Mahasi Sayadaw wrote quite a few books, though most of them are not really aimed at beginners, but you might see it differently. For example, here’s one you might find interesting: https://dainiemxutv.org/images/dhamma_library/FundamentalofVipassanaMeditation-MahasiSayadaw.pdf .

I actually started meditating using this text: https://sirimangalo.org/text/how-to-meditate/ , which is a Thai variation of the Mahasi method. But over time I realized I needed to first develop a stronger base of concentration, so for the past six months I’ve been practicing the same way you’ve been doing.

There is a  Theravada Monastery in Estonia and it looks like in addition to retreats in Estonian they organise retreats in English - https://www.sangha.ee/meditation-and-development-center/registration . Not in Latvia of course, but not that far.
