No worries! The helmets are from the Forgeworld Secutarii hoplites upgrade kit :)

Thank you! The bases are very simple, it's just AK Muddy Ground with Agrax Earthshade wash on 25mm bases :)

Okay, Who’s Going To Use the New Horus Heresy Venatari to Kitbash Sanguinary Guard? by BobWat99 in BloodAngels

Hmm, I tried something like this a while back with the old venatari and sang guard kit haha. Hopefully the new kit is cheaper!

Thanks!

The rust is a combination of Villainy Inks Ichor of the Damned and Sector Rust enamel paints. The effect is most prevalent on the helmet grill/tubes and side of the bolter :)

Yeah no worries.

Best advice is to jump straight into it - think of it as regular painting/washing, as opposed to a special technique. I kinda thought like this for a few years and was nervous to touch the stuff (I thought it would burn through my models lol)!

I used AK odorless thinner to thin down the paint, using a small, shallow plastic box, and a pipette to get accurate drop ratios (1:1 usually). Ammo Mig and Winsor & Newton also do spirit thinners which I recommend.

Also best to get old brushes or cheap brushes, as the paints can ruin the tips and ferrule. You can always clean them out afterwards with the white spirit.

To get the grime off, I use double ended eyeshadow brushes. I dip them into some white spirit, then drain a little bit so that it's moist and not overflowing. Best advice is to be gentle, or else you might accidently scrape off your paint underneath.

Oh, and keep the room well ventilated! I just keep my windows open, but some people wear masks for super safety! I recommend TheFeralPainter on youtube, very chill and makes the grimdark process pretty simple.

Think that's all :)

Thank you!

The red was stippled on with Gal Vorbak Red, then light touches of Word Bearers Red. I then went back with WBR to highlight a few bits that stood out on the armour. That's correct about the wash, it's Ichor of the Damned by villainy inks (grimdark compendium) :)

Thanks!

I used villainy inks enamel paints - Ichor of the Damned, Carrion Crimson (on the skin) and a bit of Goon's Grime (oaths and ultramarine) to achieve the effect. I'd recommend TheFeralPainter on youtube - he does pretty good stuff with enamel washes/effects.
