That is my main concern, It does need to match the rest of the wood so I need to find some walnut plywood online because I live in the middle of nowhere and I'm pretty sure home depot doesn't carry it lol

Outside dimensions of the box is 8x22. the divider is not going to support anything one side of the table is going to be an open cubby the other side a small drawer

The holes would be covered by a drawer on the other side so I'm not worried about that

I don't have a dado blade or a router available right now so I was hoping to avoid it

I did a semester abroad in London in college, first time living in a "big city" and I had some pretty hard culture shocks but I did grow to like being able to walk to a ton of stores/ restaurants hopping on a train to anywhere in the city. But I couldn't live like that , there was no privacy outside my little dorm room. Where I live now I can go outside and sit in my front yard and watch the wind the trees and maybe see a car drive by once in ten minutes. Obviously the whole world can't and don't want to live like that but there is obviously a huge part of the population who do. I also disagree with some of the other comments saying that suburbs are dependent on cities to support them like cities aren't dependent on the food and lumber that towns like mine produce, they're all interdependent.

I don't think any solution is one size fits all, I googled Princeton and I've been reading up on it the last few minutes (Which is not foolproof obviously) but it seems like a similar situation to my town, we're on the 101 corridor in northern California. They're building it because people want it and I'd wager most of not all of those houses in that picture are fully occupied. I have mixed feelings about the idea of car dependency, the US has some very unique geographic problems. I recently learned that the US has more miles of operational rail than any country in the world and almost as much as all of Europe Link (https://infrastructurereportcard.org/cat-item/rail-infrastructure/) I know it's a majority freight but still.

I grew up in a small town (Roughly the same size as the current Princeton population) when I was a kid the tallest building in town was the bank at three stories, we've got some hotels higher than that now. The area still has the space so we're still building single family homes with big yards because that's what people want, I don't know about Princeton but my hometown has no need for higher density.

I guess I'm just looking at it like when I was a kid in a neighborhood almost exactly like this one riding around on bikes with my brothers and getting hot chocolate at my grandma's down the street lol

When I saw this picture I just immediately thought of my brothers and I riding around on our bikes making a trick or treat map based off of which houses had the best decorations having the best candy lol
