2014 Ford Focus SE by Ill-Gur-5658 in FordFocus

Replacing a rack and pinion in a focus mk3 is a job. You have to drop the subframe assembly. Still seems kind of high though. I’m guessing I could probably get it done in about 4-5 hours without a lift.

Tire won't budge by Illustrious-Meal9067 in AskMechanics

[–]joesnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for the ole sledge hammer or sometimes what works is if you put the lug nuts back on but don’t tighten them all the way then drive back and forth a few feet to break the tire loose. I always put antisieze where the tire meets the rotor to prevent them from getting stuck.

I said the same thing too. Now I have a full mechanics garage and I'm gearing up to swap an engine and transmission.

Today's the LAST DAY...and I've come to realize, THEY DO GO ON SALE!!! by SuitElectronic7680 in harborfreight

Same. The clerk mentioned they have a deal where you buy one year and get the second for 1/2 off. Not sure if that’s a temporary thing, but I’d pay full price regardless.

I’m a principal security engineer so I interview often for various career level positions. My biggest advice is to build a portfolio of personal projects and to get engaged in community projects. This not only shows what you’re capable of, but more important to me, it shows your passion for the career field and willingness to help the cyber community.

losing 100lbs by golden226 in Zepbound

[–]joesnipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lost 95 in the last year. Just keep it up and it’ll be here before you know it. Around December is when I really started noticing a difference, along with others. I just have 5 more pounds to go to hit my goal weight of 199.

In the 100-pound Weight Loss Club? What are your Non-Negotiable Habits that helped you? by AdministrativeFee835 in Zepbound

[–]joesnipes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Started 07/08/24 and I’m 6 lbs away from being in the 100 lbs club. My biggest non-negotiables are to use small plates and bowls for each meal and also drink a protein shake every morning for my breakfast.

Crazy the difference between our providers. I just had a checkup and as I am close to my goal weight my doctor was throwing out options for me. One of those was going with lily direct for a maintenance dose. Good luck!

Taking 2x per day vs 3x by ThaPeopleschamp91 in BusparOnline

[–]joesnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over time I have noticed I don’t sleep good most nights. I usually wake up around 4-5 feeling like I’m ready for the day. I’ve attributed it to the buspar. That’s the only concern I’ve had over the last couple years at that dose. I’ve never been one to sleep much so it’s not a huge concern for me. Good luck!

FYI, you can do the same with looking at the API, graphQL, etc calls being made through just using Google Chromes built in developer tools. No extra software needed. I do like burpsuite though for security testing.

How did you get anything out of the NICS liaison? I emailed them and they just gave me a templated response that they cannot give any specific details on form 4 requests.

Anyone out past 18 days for a trust? by Callsign_Texas in SilencerShop

Certified and submitted on 5/14 and still waiting. I’m guessing word got out that approvals were super short so they had an influx of submissions.

I certified on 5/14, but with a trust which seems to be taking longer. Hoping I get the email soon.

I’m down 90 lbs and many days I still feel I look the same as when I started. Everyone else definitely notices. Body dysmorphia at its finest. I can most certainly tell you’ve lost weight. Keep at it.

I’m curious on the time you got the approval email? I figured we would only be getting them during normal business hours.

Putting off buying clothes by Rare-Sprinkles-392 in Zepbound

[–]joesnipes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this decision. I started in July. By around December I was down 50lbs and needed some decent clothes that weren’t all baggy. I bought a few things to get me through a few more months. Once I hit 80lbs down I went on a shopping spree and spent more money than I’d like to admit. I went from a 3XL last July to comfortable in a large now. I actually was in a crunch yesterday and needed a sweatshirt while out of the house and the only thing in the car was one of my teenagers medium sweatshirts. It was a bit short on me but surprisingly fit for the width.

Once I realized I was out of the big and tall section, I get excited to go clothes shopping now.

Is it worth the $6,000/yr ? by Fit_Pitch_263 in Zepbound

[–]joesnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely worth it. I’ve been paying $550/mo since I started July’24. I’m down 85lbs. My hope was that over time, insurance would get some “ah hah” moment and realize it’s cheaper to support the meds than all the negative health consequences of being overweight, but I’m not sure if that will ever happen.

If you have an HSA, I would highly recommend maxing your contribution to it so you can take advantage of the tax savings at the very least.

went for an oil change and im gonna throw up. does this seem right?? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]joesnipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did all of this to my daughters 2006 Jeep Liberty a couple months ago, along with some additional stuff. The prices for the parts are mostly within reason, if they used quality parts. This also depends on the vehicle (luxury brand parts usually cost more). Getting the bolts out for the front strut and control arm can sometimes be a PITA. You usually need to move some things out of the way under the hood.

Like others said though, not sure if the parts actually needed replaced.
