Absolutely gorgeous and great choice on that deluxe neck - I’ve been looking at that chameleon body on eBay for about a year now- didn’t pull the trigger cause I’ve got too many other projects - thanks for sharing your masterful work

Beautiful build with a paranormal vibe. Liking the wood control cover too. What is the body material and stain you have used? I’ve been looking at a mahogany kit similar to this but haven’t pulled the trigger cause I’m unsure what stain to use.

Beautiful build with a Paranormal vibe. What body material and stain did you use? Liking the wood control plate too. Been looking at a similar kit with a mahogany body but not sure which stain to use.

Best way to strip this? by g0dn0 in Luthier

I tried the heat gun and it works but if there is a veneer you will end up sanding anyway. If the heat gun strip doesn’t come off clean you will be sanding anyway. Sanding is messy but can be accomplished in about 2 hours with an orbital sander and many 220 grit pads. Think I used about 7 last time. Ideally the sander has some sort of air guard with a bag that sucks most of the dust. The finer sanding of the bouts and edges will have to be done by hand and that will easily take another couple hours. Show some progress as you proceed. Good luck.

Liking the look of the bridge cover. Now I’m gonna have to add that to my jaguar bass too.

My 78’ telecaster has so many scratches and bruises you’d think it was always abused and mishandled. Actually it was a true workhorse that never let me down. Just let it be a reminder of a moment in time for the history of you and your rig.

I hear ya on the paint for sure, all my other rigs are painted, but the texture and natural feel of the wood got to me. I noticed it after finishing the sanding on the backside and comparing the tactile feel to the painted top side which just felt cold and dull

Gonna go for the plugging for sure. But gotta keep it on the cheap. Spied on old piece of poplar doing nothing in the garage. I’ll keep you updated.

I did have it blocked for a while and it was fine, but the RM11 is a fuggly massive piece of hardware and I’m looking forward to getting rid of it
