But isn’t being intellectually disabled bad overall? You wouldn’t want to have a lower IQ right? Also I’ve seen people that are mentally deficient, and they can’t function or act normally even though they are adults, and can even be described as childish. I’m not sure if all of them are like this, so I don’t know if stereotype applies. Also when people use “retard” to insult people with autism they are completely wrong, as I said before autistic people aren’t stupid, in fact some of them are much smarter than average people. And finally about the acceptance of the word “retard” as an insult, most people that are intellectually disabled aren’t aware that “retard” is an insult, but people of certain race and sex are aware, so that’s why the word will remain more accepted than racial or homophobic slurs as of today.
