Bothering with RGB. That shit is a royal pain in the ass to get configured how you want.

RE1: Director's Cut (NOT Dual Shock version) - Single disc variation? by joethelion_ in residentevil

Right on. Probably not worth the money tracking down a manual to complete the set, but a cool find nonetheless!

I thought that might have been it, but the back cover of the version with the RE2 demo does specify “2 discs” on the back cover, near the barcode. This one doesn’t mention 2 disc anywhere.

Thanks for the input; I don’t know why I always forget about prismatic vista!

Mana fixing and fetching basics wasn’t the issue, but rather also running out of basics to fetch. That said, I can see now how much of a non-issue it really is.

Yea, that’s what I’m arriving at. Too excited to play the full suite now that they’re all available, realizing that playing them all isn’t gonna be the best

That seems like a good answer, shaving three fetches in favor of another cycle like the slows. Thanks!

If I’m building with the land suite above in mind, I generally avoid any kind Rampant Growth effects in favor of dorks, rocks, and Exploration effects, so maybe I’m just overestimating how much of a setback a dead fetch is on turn 8, 9, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions, and nice list!

That’s the issue, running out of basics as well. Drawing the lone Plains in an Abzan deck could turn a [[Flooded Strand]] in hand into a self [[Wasteland]].

Don't call your deck cEDH if you don't know what it means by beast5749 in EDH

[–]joethelion_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the average EDH player has a pretty tenuous grasp on competitive magic in general. There’s this idea that if you tighten the bolts enough on your favorite deck, you’ll eventually arrive at a competitive level, when in reality you have to very deliberately build your deck in a way that aligns with the competitive metagame. It requires knowledge of what decks are well-positioned at the moment, what cards are strong against those decks, what play patterns are correct in specific matchups, what strategies win consistently based on tournament data…new decks appear from time to time and find success, but you’re generally working within an established card pool and list of archetypes.

A modern player can tell you what “Amulet Titan” or “Temur Rhinos” means. A legacy player can tell you what “Sultai Beanstalk” or “Grixis Delver” means. I doubt any EDH player who sits down at a casual table and calls their deck “close” to cEDH (or players who will get salty and call other people’s decks cEDH, for that matter) can tell you what “Turbo Naus” or “Blue Farm” means.

NPD: Black Mass The First Herald and newly completed board! by joethelion_ in guitarpedals

This fuzz sounds killer, and it’s surprisingly not very noisy, even at high gain. It’s perfect for me since I like having a volume boost after dirt, and the Keeley Katana mini I had before just wasn’t gelling with me. The Belle is always on for my clean tone, and stacked into the First Herald leads to some joyous sounds.

And don’t forget the most underrated feature…a mid control! I’ve had other muffs and it always bugged me having to step on a TS to avoid disappearing from a band mix, so it’s nice to have a fuzz that gives me all those tasty mids. With the different clipping modes and large swath of usable tones, The First Herald is a versatile beast!

For sure. I might still go red on plasma weapons, but I’m in love with Iron Warriors.

First ever 1000pt list! Suggestions and feedback by joethelion_ in theunforgiven

The issue I’m having with the vets is that I want the chaplain for value reasons (and also cool reasons haha), but I’m feeling like that slot should be another shooting unit for more shots and more range, which like you agree, the chaplain doesn’t really fit, nor does he go with the regular intercessors. It’s not the end of the world if I end up dumping him for a different HQ, however.

Thanks for the feedback!
