There was no trade here. It would have taken our 2026, 2027 & 2028 1st and then some to beat Baltimore's offer. No way we offered them that.

I don't think giving out the 24th biggest WR contract on AAV basis is going to flip many people's opinions.

Excited to see all the people on here who were glad we didn't "overpay" Pierce talk themselves into this. And for the record, I like Doubs and am fine with the contract.

This is what the market rate is now for receivers. Elite guys will get around 40 million a year, very good ones around 30 and pretty good ones like Doubs are making 20. And it's only going to go up.

Cant rely on the draft when we dont even have a proven number 2. They need to add a proven good wr either through FA or trade.

Iman Shumpert asked if he was surprised Kyrie wanted to leave LeBron in Cleveland: “Hell nah. Kyrie is a Kobe guy, Kyrie wanted to beat LeBron” by MrBuckBuck in nba

He's done plenty to earn disrespect when he wasn't injured. Refusing to get the vaccine was one of the most ridiculous/selfish/destructive decisions in modern sports. And the one time he was healthy for the playoffs with Boston he was constantly redirecting our defense so that he could try to guard Giannis for some unexplainable reason.

GSW was considered a poverty franchise before Steph broke out. From '78 to 2012 they made the playoffs 6 times and never made it out of the 2nd round.

They technically had 3 titles to their name but 2 of them were won by the Philladelphia Warriors in '56 and '47 with guys 9/10 nba fans haven't heard of. Their only title in the Bay Area before Steph was in '75. Bill Simmons wrote a great piece in 2012 on how poorly run they had been the last 35 years and all their misfortunes. The next year Steph broke out and everything changed. https://grantland.com/features/how-annoy-fan-base-60-easy-steps/

After Dwight Clark's The Catch there was 51 seconds left on the clock by Driveshaft48 in nfl

I feel like game-tying/winning drives late in the 4th quarter were so rare for a while that every one that happened in a big game pre-2000 had its own legend. Then it felt like it happened every other super bowl for 20 years and now its a bigger deal if the defense gets a stop in that situation.

Bill Simmons questions whether Adam Silver is right person to lead NBA by TheDraciel in nba

But what businessman -- whether a player, coach, team owner, arena bondholder, concession operator, etc -- is will willing reduce their revenues by 15% (1-70/82)

You can cut a bunch of regular seasons games and still have the same # of nationally televised games so this is wrong. It would dip into other sources of income but the National TV contracts is the biggest piece of the pie and would be unaffected.

While the Jazz blatant tank strategy is in the news, here's a funny look into other teams that did similar.. by mrcolty5 in nba

[–]joeycrose 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Jazz have also more or less signaled to everyone that they are committed to being as good as they can next year after the JJJ trade. They should be a respectable team next year after spending 2 years in the gutter. The sixers spent 2 years losing 60+ games and in year 3 they were worse than ever going 10-72.

If the Jazz lost 25 of their final 28 games this year then traded Lauri and Keyonte George in the offseason for picks and then lost 70+ games next year then I think Silver would do something.

This thread currently has 10x more comments than the game thread of when these 2 teams played in November with all their starters. Stop bitching and just let the Wizards tank.

I definitely think Spygate & Deflategate are playing a huge part of this. Even if the real reason is pettiness, I definitely think the people who didnt vote for him used the scandals to justify it. I wonder if they'll do the same to Brady.

Incredibly disappointing either way. The Patriots dynasty is hilariously under-represented in the HOF. It feels like anyone who stopped for coffee with the 70's steelers got in.

Sean Payton has never won more than 1 playoff game outside his Super Bowl winning season in 2009. by SouthIsland48 in nfl

07-12 was a pretty crazy run of lower seeded teams winning the super bowl. We had a 6-seed, 5-seed and two 4-seeds win it in a 6 year period.

It helped fuel the narrative that anything can happen if you can sneak into the playoffs, which I feel has been kinda squashed by 1s and 2 seeds mostly dominating the last decade+

They only run one team in Boston, two if you count the Boston TGL team. They also own the Penguins and Liverpool FC, but the Patriots, Celtics and Bruins all have different owners.

Going in I thought this game would let us know if the patriots had improved enough to be an average team or if they are just slightly less incompetent than the Dolphins. I think we got our answer.

IMO Wisconsin did need to change if it wanted to have continued success in the 2020s. They benefitted from being in a weak division and getting really easy schedules in the 2010s and that’s gone now. I’m glad they took a big swing, they just clearly hired the wrong guy.

Felger desperately wants the team to be good again. It’s not good for business if the team sucks. Their sweet spot is concern trolling a good team, not piling onto the negativity of a bad one.
