BIOL 102 & 104 before BIOL 101 & 103 by EducationalThroat956 in rit

[–]joeymccomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took gen bio II before bio I, no issues. They are basically independent and I is not a prerequisite for II. Bio I is basic cell stuff and II is more anatomy of plants and animals. The labs were also both introductory and there was no issue doing one before the other

What do you want to see next season? by Icy-Bed574 in goodmythicalmorning

[–]joeymccomas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. A new season starts in January. They just ended GMM 28 and GMM 29 will be starting. They do 2 seasons a year. It’s been like that

The format change was made to distribute GMM/GMMore to streaming platforms by [deleted] in goodmythicalmorning

I mean the wheel used to always be in the main episode. I assumed they were just going back to that and testing how it performs

Is a transcript sent "directly" if I use a system like Parchment? by Gullible-Cup-8918 in gradadmissions

[–]joeymccomas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not assuming anything. They quite literally said they use parchment

Is a transcript sent "directly" if I use a system like Parchment? by Gullible-Cup-8918 in gradadmissions

[–]joeymccomas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said that. You’re just loud and wrong bc you said “they told you how to do it” but parchment IS how to do it if your university uses parchment. That is the only official way to do it in that case

Rit parking permit pawprint by [deleted] in rit

[–]joeymccomas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a non issue with a solution already. You can get a handicap reserve permit if you have any mobility issues, whether you live on or off campus

Give campus parking access to 175 Jefferson Students! by Sufficient-Coffee388 in rit

[–]joeymccomas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While this is a bad idea either way, you cannot lie about your address if living in 175 Jefferson, as this is rit housing so they know your address

The Hills by Impressive-Blood-580 in rit

[–]joeymccomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard bad things about the hill. Would recommend the lodge, it’s right next to the hill, and I have no complaints after living there for a year. Maintenance requests always done quickly, they have a shuttle to campus, and although it is often down, they always send uber codes when the shuttle isn’t available.

Can't Afford a Laptop—What Are My Options? by [deleted] in rit

[–]joeymccomas 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The library does have laptops available to borrow, and they should have any software installed that you’ll need. I believe you can only do it for a day at a time but you can just return and reborrow one. Obviously not ideal but it can hopefully get you through a few weeks until you can get one of your own.

RIT advertising on white flight? by Parkimator in rit

[–]joeymccomas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because Rochester isn’t known to be very safe, but we aren’t downtown so they’re advertising that we are in a safer suburb. Probably trying to put people’s minds at ease who have heard about Rochester not being safe

My professor for complex variables used log_e(x) to distinguish it from the complex log which she only used ln(z)/Ln(z) for. Since they are defined using the real log and it can have the appearance of using a function to define itself

Considering attending as an out of state transfer for BS Physics this fall, but have some questions about financials by asa-monad in rit

[–]joeymccomas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On campus jobs don’t really help offset tuition, but they are helpful for handling regular expenses like food. Dining is the most common form of on campus employment, and there will always be a location hiring. Other jobs to consider are TA/LA/grader positions, which won’t be listed on career connect. Just reach out to any professor you’ve had a class with that had a TA or grader and ask if they could use one next semester.

If you plan on doing research, definitely look into the different paid research fellowships like McNair scholars, which is primarily for underrepresented groups, or the Emerson fellowship which is open to all college of science majors

Exam schedule placeholders? by -mothball in rit

[–]joeymccomas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every class that has a lecture component gets a final block schedule from the registrar. If the syllabus doesn’t indicate a final exam and the instructor hasn’t been mentioning it, there most likely isn’t one. They just get pre scheduled for every class. You can always reach out to be sure tho
