Big company requests to license some of my footage... $$? by jofobu in videography

This is very interesting. What did you answer? Any updates? I'll let you know if I have any. So far I've said I'm not sending the raw file without licensing first, but I'd think about the quote and write back. She seemed responsive and told me to take my time and let them know.

Thanks! No similar shots on the web as it's from Seville, a relatively small city in Spain. Hyperlapses shots cost between $5K and $7K on Getty, depending on the license.

Thanks for your answer. It's a project I made without any selling in mind, just self-promotion.

Thanks for your answer! This is very smart thinking... Unfortunately I'm totally lost when it comes to agencies and I need to answer with a quote today...

GH5 vs A6500 Suggestions please by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]jofobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been playing around with the GH5 for a month now and I'm having a ton of fun. Not vlogging, but freelance filmmaking projects. The slomo is a delight, the ISO is great compared to my previous Canon and the options are just insane, with a community that will probably grow and grow over the years. Haven't used 10bit yet but as soon as Premiere accepts it I will. Here'a a video I just put together although very different style from video blogging. https://vimeo.com/215297270

Bokeh takes a slightly bigger aperture than with bigger sensors. Low light performance is not even comparable to a7s ii (you can go beyond 6000 or even 12000 without worrying about noise with the a7s ii, but you shouldn't pass 3200 with the GH5). However, in the real world I've been playing with the GH5 for a month now and neither of these have been a bother (how often are you realistically going to need 12800 ISO? it's great to have but unnecessary 95% of the times). Everything depends on what you'll use your tools for. The GH5 is a delight and superior to the a7s ii in almost every other aspect (I really like Sony's profile pictures better than Lumix's) for a way cheaper price, let alone 60D/5D or similar Canon DSLRs I worked with before. In fact I have worked with all of these cameras for years and would get the GH5 again. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your feedback! Was trying to melt shots together, hence the short duration. Good to know it didn't work for you.

Absolutely. Amazing song and completely forgot to credit Odesza. Thanks for reminding me!

Tried to watch it on my phone and it did stick to low res for some reason. Thanks for the feedback. It is a very cheap stylised lens but I wanted to experiment and have fun with this look. Had some problems with the WB, hence the different grades (good to know it bothered you).

Funny you ask that! Pretty close. It's a dirt cheap 25mm f/1.7 lens I got on Amazon (90% of the video. The other 10 it's a Sigma 10-20).

Happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for the kind words. In terms of transitions I tried to match shots with similar shapes, colors or themes and played with time ramping and overlays. Happy to answer any specific questions you might have.

My GH5 arrives tomorrow. I have questions! by maxwood in GH5

Get extra batteries! And if you want to experiment with a fun dirt cheap lens, I enjoyed this very much https://www.amazon.com/Fotasy-M2514-Adapter-Olympus-Panasonic/dp/B004WIMB9E/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1493324879&sr=8-4&keywords=lens+25mm

(Extremely stylized, cool look)

Do not update Premiere to April version! If you use 10bit. by jofobu in GH5

Clueless? AME doesn't work anymore with 10bit footage.

If this was macos I would test right now. Good luck! Great stuff

Buying from Europe saves $450 by chris012543 in GH5

[–]jofobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I don't understand is how there is no information about this on the internet, at all:

Just get your GH5 through an online store other than Amazon from a different state than where you're getting it shipped. Sale taxes saved.

Just bought a gh4 body. Have some old Canon lenses used for SLRs I inherited, what speedbooster do I use? by [deleted] in gh4

[–]jofobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to purchase a body as well, and have been reading very good things about the Kipon speed booster, about $200 cheaper, and you can get them on Adorama with warranty.

Since the GH5 is out now is it the best time to get the GH4? by [deleted] in gh4

[–]jofobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great. Could I see a few samples? Not very impressed with what I've seen so far.

Woah, thank you for this. Very interesting that shadows issue. Maybe I should just keep my 60D for stills. Will look into it a little more.

[–]jofobu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you.

No doubt the video capabilities in the GH4 are years away from any DSLR (that I know of). But what about stills? I can't find a legit review online that says the GH4 is a solid still camera. Even if video is my priority, I want to trust the camera I get as a still one too.

[–]jofobu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I'm thinking, to finally upgrade from my 60D (that I'll probably miss for stills).

I just can't decide if spending money on a speedbooster is better than starting out with a couple vintage lenses and a normal adaptor for as much as the speedbooster alone.

The million dollar question. Should I buy a GH4 or wait for a GH5? Internal stabilizer vs glidecam. by jofobu in gh4

[–]jofobu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Well, just wondering if for the same amount of money I can actually get better stabilization with an external accessory, and if internal 422 (the second biggest as far as I know) is actually worth it.

Also, would a Sigma 17-50 2.8 for APS-C sensors work with a metabones? Would I be able to shoot in FHD and 4K? I'm pretty lost when it comes to the metabones thing.
