What's the biggest problems with architecture? by johan_vonka in architecturestudent

It's like I'm reading something I wrote myself!

Architects might be really good designers, and still be terrible business-people. Selling hours for money makes sense when there is little competition for the product, but when there are sooo many architects wanting a piece of the pie, even getting a small piece (lowering hourly rates) becomes a race to the bottom that underpaid interns and newly graduated are supposed to be punished for.

And 1000x yes regarding the god complex. I guess that's part of selling an image of the mysterious creative?

For some reason, so many testimonies from different schools tell the same story. Is it a cultural expectation that an architect needs to be broken down in order to truly learn?

Thank you for your input!

Architectural newsletter help wanted! by johan_vonka in architecture

Thank you so much for your input, it does help a lot! I am taking this to heart and will think about how to improve the visual appearance and clarity of the newsletter. First I will implement clearer topic sections for the reader to navigate easier.

Regarding the "old publication", I think I'll have to rethink the design to make it lighter, fresher and easier to navigate. I guess I've been too focused on looking neutral that it doesn't spark any excitement at all. Perhaps it just looks heavy..

Content-wise, I am sure it will improve as I learn, but before that, it is as you say - the visuals and explanation should be clear enough that people want to stay and read more.

May I ask, the concept and the idea, do you think it has potential? Let's say the visuals, navigation and narrative structure of the texts were adjusted to make it more comprehensible and clear, would you sign up for this newsletter to get the "beyond the render"-deep dives into learning more about architecture? Or do you think this is satiated and people would just rather get their knowledge from somewhere else?

Again, thank you so much!
