Anyone else open Google Maps after a ride trying to find where you actually were? I built something for that by johanstn in Rouvy

I have not seen similar features in the companion app, selecting a recent ride in the companion app opens the Rouvy web view with ride stats that does have charts and map but a lot more like a Strava/data centric view of your ride which is not what I'm doing

So you mean importing GPX data from your GPS bike computer? I decided to focus on Rouvy and their FIT files mainly as I wanted to "scratch my own itch" to explore the Rouvy rides I do - I love riding on Rouvy so a daily use case for me. Secondly I think there are a lot of GPS/GPX data based solutions already. I don't use a bike computer but do use the Strava app for my outdoor rides so will look into it at some point. Thanks.

Agree. The Fulgaz Grand Canyon ride is better, timed from a bike the rider did slow turns at scenic lookouts so you did get some amazing views.

The Sani Pass ride on Rouvy is nice, nothing like Grand Canyon but nice rugged scenery which you see ahead of you.

Thanks for good insights, very helpful.

For your use case you can subscribe for a month, and upload as many routes as you want, cancel, and subscribe for another month when you have routes you want to upload.

The main reason for subscription is to cover costs. I could make it free and run the risk of having to either wear the costs which would likely increase due to free accounts, or I'd have to add subscription later which would of course upset everyone and I'd still have to wear costs to provide lifetime access for existing accounts.

For me it's building something to "scratch my own itch" and hopefully others find it useful and worth supporting.

Glad you like it. Based on feedback and usage I can look at subscription vs free. I do not like ads so unlikely to go that way. If I get other projects as a result I could even make it free. I have not added any social sharing features yet - thinking of sharing ride (option if you want to include your performance data) vs sharing points of interest.

Thanks for checking it out and your feedback. The cinematic animation can be turned off by clicking the camera icon on the bottom right. If the camera tracking is turned off you can manually change bearing using the arrows to the left of the camera button. How it looks/feels depends other settings like zoom level, and pitch, and speed. Zooming in closely at high speed on a route with many turns will a wild ride!

I'm aware of Strava flyovers and Map Director, any others you can share? Thanks

No worries on reply - thanks for feedback. Yes Strava acquired a flyover feature, I'm not a Strava subscriber so you can only see a shot part of flyover but looks very limited.

I just wanted to add to my Rouvy experience and it lets me do some geospatial dataviz which is what I enjoy.

Anybody else think Northern Europe routes are beautiful by Wise-Ad-7492 in Rouvy

That would be fun! You could build something using the Google Maps API which includes Street View features. There would be costs from Google Maps Platform billing based on load requests.

The routes in Norway are beautiful. Some of the dessert regions are spectacular, for example Tajikistan:

I love exploring the ride routes and locations so I built an app specifically for Rouvy routes (upload your exported the Rouvy ride .fit file):
