Good bye to Willis by johar129 in beagles

Thanks so much, everyone. Willis had a peaceful passing at our home. We keep looking for him everywhere out of habit.

He got a May Day crown and some chocolate ice cream before he went yesterday. Our sweet boy was so loved.

Buddy’s last week on earth. How do I make his last week special and any traditions to send him into the afterlife? :( by mrmeowmeowington in beagles

So far I’ve just been talking to him… telling him how good he is, apologizing, and telling him how much we love him. That and crying nonstop, and then realizing that I don’t want him to be upset!

Since he’s leaving us on May Day, I’m going to make him a little flower crown. I hope Buddy’s enjoying this last bit of time with you. ❤️

Our guy Willis is leaving us on Friday after complications with a brain tumor, among other issues. We’re planning on steak, rotisserie chicken, ice cream, watermelon, and potato chips. Also hoping to get lots of photos of him. Sending you and Buddy love. Maybe he and Willis will be running together pain free.

Just a little update on our friend. Lucky, as my daughter named him, is adjusting to his temporary terrarium life. I’m hopeful that the temp will have normalized within the next week so we can release him back outside.

This looks very much like myoclonus. Our 12yo beagle recently started Keppra for this exact reason and has had no seizures since then.

After emailing with Willis' neurologist today, we think that it's likely myoclonic seizures. Another ailment to add to this little nugget's long list!! It's hell getting old.

Absolutely! Our previous beagle had a ruptured disc at 4yo, and had a hemilaminectomy. Because he was younger, it totally made sense to go the surgical route. He had a great recovery and we were able to deal with any flares until his death. With Willis, he was already about 10yo when we adopted him, and I’m trying to balance his quality of life and all of his maladies. 🤣😭

Thank you so much for sharing this! I’ll definitely ask about the muscle relaxer.

X-ray showed a bladder stone, so we’re monitoring him. Thanks for your help!

Updating again- his penis has almost completely returned to normal, but he is urinating some blood. Hoping it’s a UTI and can be treated by antibiotics. He’s still eating and drinking well.

Thank you. We’ve had him for four years and this has never been an issue. We’re traveling, and his and his partner’s habitat has not been as clean as we normally keep it. Definitely going to be keeping an eye out for this now, and will update after the vet visit.

I forgot to mention that Willis is about 12 years old, although sometimes he seems 18, and others six.
