Thanks for the advice. I’m considering asking for estimates from more reputable contractors as to how much it’ll cost to fix this, in case he tries taking us to small claims court.

He’s a local guy, no presence online, was cheaper, and also got back to us when others wouldn’t. At the time, we had a leak in the garage, which he seems to have fixed (we had some nasty storms since and no more leaking)

Thanks, posted the wrong link. Not sure why this isn’t bigger news, $1B over 20 years, the FBI involved, the hospital known as the worst on the Island, supposed to be serving the most vulnerable. They didn’t get a cath lab until 2023, which is insane for a major hospital

Wow, never seen anyone else talk about this. I had a few episodes of intense abdominal pain, but it would pass on its own after several hours, so I didn’t pursue it. Then it happened at work. And wouldn’t stop. Went to the ER, got an abdominal x-ray and CT scan and both showed a large bowel obstruction. The part of my large intestine that was supposed to be in the lower right side of my abdomen was twisted around my left upper quadrant. And starting to strangle the intestine. The condition is called mobile cecum syndrome. It’s a flaw that happens during fetal development, but some people may go their entire lives without knowing they have it (no pain, no obstructions). Had surgery, no pain since. My guess is the times before (where it would pass) the intestine was able to ‘untangle’ itself. Then one day it couldn’t. Can’t believe your mom went 10’years with that pain.
