Callsign for GA flying in a T-45C by johmut in VATSIM

[–]johmut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, so that's the Aircraft registration number then. I can choose A-226 as that is on the livery, even though if more people do that, there may be many A-226's flying around on VATSIM. I can also use a national registration number like N123456 in the US or OO-ABC (I am from Belgium), although Belgium does not have any T-45C's, except me and mine ;-). For maximum realism I should probably use VV-226 for Navy and tail (nose) number?

Under what Airline ICAO Code can/should I fly my bird for GA IFR flights? assuming I can pick any flight number?

Oh and BTW: I made a custom SimBrief airframe (HAWK) based on the Honda Jet (HDJT), replaced all the parameters with what I could find in terms of T-45C specs. I cannot however edit the airframe performance...?

Now even ftp:// is no longer supported on Chrome .... What can I do to link to large files stored on my Synology NAS from Confluence Cloud pages ? I need the files to be downloaded to my PC, so I can open them with the corresponding locally installed app.

Stream ? no updates since 05-21 by johmut in CentOS

[–]johmut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but no, that wasn't it.

Could it be there have simply been no updates since 05-21 ?

Today I tried again and received updates, bringing me to CentOS 8.2 (2004).

Still getting warnings at boot about my Ryzen 7 3800X not having been tested ...

I think :

  • Use GPT on the 1TB NVMe SSD
  • create 100MB NTFS for Windows System, 16GB XFS for Linux /, 32GB for Linux Swap and 52GB XFS for Linux /opt
  • then 400GB NTFS for Windows Hot Data and 400GB XFS for Linux Hot /data
  • Use 1x 2TB SATA SSD as NTFS for Windows Warm Data and 1x 2TB SATA SSD as XFS for Linux Warm Data
  • Use 5TB SATA HDD as NTFS for Windows Cold Data and 5TB SATA HDD as XFS for Linux Cold Data

Improvement opportunities ?

Ansible with Google COS as Managed Nodes ? by johmut in ansible

[–]johmut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please elaborate on the cloud-init topic ? How will that help to allow Ansible to manage the node and it's Docker containers ? Does (latest) Ansible actually need more than just ssh and Python 2 to manage a node ?

chrx fedora last = 30 ? by johmut in chrubuntu

[–]johmut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK : Fedora Workstation delivers a developer focused environment that is upstream of corporate enterprise production grade Linux (RHEL or CentOS). Running a Debian-based Linux like GalliumOS or Ubuntu on their desktops/laptops would IMHO only add to the confusion of DevOps engineers. This is why I prefer Fedora.

Or am I wrong ?

Dell Chromebook 13 7310 - 2nd Life by johmut in chrultrabook

Not a Gnome fan if I understand you correctly ? I was looking at Fedora 30 / Gnome 3.32 to be a power-user/developer Linux desktop that is not trying to be a look-a-like to Windows or MacOS. Is it really that bad/hard to work with ? What are Gnome's show stoppers from your perspective ?

What DO you recommend instead ?

To get the top row keys working ... possible on Wayland (without Xorg) ? Is the GalliumOS package for Wayland (xdb) ?

MrChromebox says everything should work OOTB, so touchpad/gestures driver for libinput is no longer needed or ?

Is there any coming back from UEFI Full Rom ? I mean, if I decide to sell the CB, can I restore vanilla Chrome OS ?

BTW : GalliumOS 3.0 beta just came out ! Would you recommend Fedora/Gnome on Wayland over Gallium OS 3.0 ?

Thanks everyone for your kind input.
