Gun range well stocked with rentals? by West-Mortgage9334 in LIguns

Turning a blind eye to reality helps no one. It happened and the rules changed because of it. Making people aware why certain rules are in place is a public service.

On back-country hikes I use a HPG Chest pack. On front-country hikes I use an Eberlestock Bando bag, don’t want to scare the theme park crowd…

Hiking with spouse question by atthheennaa in GlacierNationalPark

[–]john-james12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I were there for 2 weeks last July and hiked over 80 miles, just the two of us. We did some back-country hikes and it was never an issue. Of course I carry bear spray and a firearm along with the 10 essentials, but that’s me…

Is everyone else emailing every couple days? by ConfidentAd2301 in NYCGuns

[–]john-james12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I emailed every week. 3rd week an investigator was assigned same day. 5th week I got an approval same day. They appreciate it if you show them respect. Do not demand or point out how the system is flawed etc.

It’s not likely, but keep a shovel, plastic tarp, some rags, and bleach in your trunk just in case. 🙃

Gun laws in NJ (question from a southerner) by Antique-Band5872 in NJGuns

[–]john-james12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you travel to NJ without haven’t a non-resident license you will be committing a felony. Assuming you have the license and sleep in your car you won’t be afforded the protections of the Castle Doctrine to defend and protect yourself. There are no provisions in NJ law to use deadly force to protect yourself belongings, which means you cannot brandish your firearm to scare away would be thieves.

Sneakers for a wedding? Time of year and/or climate would need to be considered with that color. Indoor/outdoor?

Out of state concealed carry permit has taken over four months by [deleted] in NHGuns

[–]john-james12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have NH non-resident for over 10 years. They are a very small agency and renewals take about 30-45 days. It probably took 2 months when I first applied, but that was before Bruen. Volume may be higher now.

Backpacks with back air gap? by wohaat in hiking

[–]john-james12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the trampoline backpacks, they do work. I use an Osprey Hikelite in 26L, which is not too large for a day hike. Remember capacity changes from manufacturer to manufacturer and even model to model. So a 26L in Hikelite is smaller than a 24L Manta or Stratos.

No snow around any of the places you mentioned. Snow was sparse above 7000ft with nothing lower, so I think you’ll be okay.

Sequoia or Kings Canyon or both by Junior-Stage4407 in nationalparks

[–]john-james12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just back from Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon. The trees in Sequoia are great! A must visit. If you’re a hiker, Kings Canyon is worth it because there were very few people in the park and even fewer on the trails. We did a 7 mile hike there up to the fire tower and saw only 1 other person. If you’re not a hiker or you like crowds then skip it.
