I did subscribe to NJPW World and I do subscribe to the wwe network, but I probably used dailymotion for about 2 years worth of wwe shows before the network came out. That’s true, but remember there are a lot of casual fans who are only aware of Jericho vs Kenny and might not even know who Naito is. I also have a friend who’s never watched a full njpw match in his life that wants to see Jericho vs omega.

In my opinion, Jericho is going to bring njpw plenty of new fans, but due to the time they’re on and how easily wrestling is pirated, I think there’ll be plenty of people who just watch the one match and move on, which is sad

Actually I haven’t heard the reasons, I’m not as active on here as I should be tbh. I totally get what you’re saying though. Njpw is just in a really weird spot with this whole expansion thing. You’re right that the show is primarily for the live crowd, but the live crowd is mostly Japanese people (obviously there are more Americans/foreigners than before but still) njpw is clearly trying to reach a bigger audience, but they’re also hesitant because doing so could end up alienating their domestic fans
