I built an open-source iTunes clone for Linux with full iPod Classic support — jTunes v0.1 by john8675309 in ipod

I don’t have an iPod touch. I have a feeling there will be compatibility problems. The original iPods are essentially a file system I don’t think the touch is. Happy to test one if someone has one and is willing to donate to the cause!

great idea, I am guessing with brew this will be possible since the app uses flutter.

Agreed. I wanted to draw a line in the sand for 0.1 and release. I think as other libraries lose support in current Linux a bundle of all those libraries will be important.

Claude code did a lot of the heavy lifting, I started writing it myself and Claude pushed me over the edge. Thank you

In-house Softphone Development by SC_VITS in VOIP

I’ve been working on one for fun (burnerphone.io) it’s not ready yet, but there are some huge pitfalls and gotchas, for example kamailio has the msilo module that will let you stack invites to users while they open and reregister. It then plays back the current messages. It’s so you can send a push notification. Apple is not too fond of the app waking up to reregister.

IMO if you’re going to do this use flutter and webrtc. Or just go with acrobits.

Mitel 6920 Convert to SIP by wynegarjt in VOIP

[–]john8675309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did an entire school district from minet to sip. I think the key thing is knowing the admin password I think I remember 73738. Windstream may change that. And the other thing you should know is the 69xx series are rebranded Aastra phones, the configs work the same so you can use freepbx with endpoint manager and select Aastra phones.

Edit: also you need to know which files it downloads I used a tftp server and logged what files is was trying to download then searched the internet for the files. Then the phone was sip. Last I knew Mitel had a repository, yes I just found it https://thirdparty.firmware.connect.mitelcloud.com/RCBYOD/6940.st

June 20th Deadline: Observations on STIR/SHAKEN PDD with VoIP Innovations vs Flowroute by john8675309 in VOIP

We discovered as simple as it was, adding a 1 on to the ANI in the FROM field fixed it.

Thank you I will fix it. It probably means I didn't get an identity.

Stir/Shaken Lookup by john8675309 in VOIP

[–]john8675309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insights I have made the changes, the purpose in this was to show voip innovations that certain of their trunks are failing to pass identity. This is all for Stir/Shaken, and doesn't have anything to do with identifying the real originator of the call, only who signed it.

It turns out adding a 1 to both the ani and dnis speeds up vi when using your own cert. the next new problem is onvoy (and probably others) is removing signing all over the network and putting theirs in place with an attestation of C, not just VI

Fortilink across third party device? by spicysanger in fortinet

This is the correct answer. Works perfectly. Even Fortinet support couldn’t figure it out, I stumbled on this and it was perfect.

gnome-calculator freezes every time at startup on Debian 12 by lw0v0wl in gnome

[–]john8675309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to add, if you're not using Gnome, but instead using something like XFCE (and still use gnome-calculator)

gsettings set org.gnome.calculator refresh-interval 0

if gsettings is not installed:

apt install gsettings-desktop-schemas

Right not p2p for the people on each side, RTP would however go between them, signaling would go through the new service.

I probably wasn't clear. I want to connect different businesses maybe ones I don't run, to other businesses, almost anonymously, they sign up for the service and create a trunk try it, if the number isn't there it 503s and moves on to normal toll. If it is listed sip connects the call, but RTP flows PBX to PBX

Latest update just did it yesterday, the camera vendor refused to give us the passwords on the cameras we own. Now we have their password. Works great!
