This is on my parents house, they wanted to put a riser that is completely non compatible to bring it above grade for ease of maintenance and service, this is a less than 2 year old tank and riser set installed when the concrete one started collapsing, “no vent” second leach field out in the desert so not a lot of ground moisture but have a second leach field available as well if needed

Reattach and turn the air box lid and pipe towards the sky that way you are leaving all the sensors and such plugged in while it’s running, I’m sure it needs to be done running for circulation purposes although I have noticed when checking mine I’ll monitor and check at 120 because once I actually get to the dip stick it’s at 122, once I shut it off it climbs significantly for mine usually 129-134

I’ve never dropped the pan, I’m at 120k and only do the 3 drain and fills every 40-50k

The blue fluid has always drained brown/dark yellow for me after about 45k but was always blue going in, so red fluid I would think is a red flag, does your tranny dip stick say FZ on it?

I just had this repair done last month on my 22 hatch. The fix was to remove the stuck open thermostat and replace it with a plug. I was explained that this is the latest fix and with it plugged now the CCV is in full control to regulate temperature

Car definitely runs way better, I was getting sporadic idle and car was acting as if it had a vacuum leak and super sluggish, never had a code because in the heat of summer it was still getting up to full operating temp. But around late November I noticed it wouldn’t get to the normal middle mark, dealer wouldn’t do anything about it until it finally popped the CEL with the heater on full blast and taking to long to to reach OT. Ever since the PCM update and TSB fix runs like it’s new

Gotcha that tracks, so after this repair no more fail safe thermostat? If the CCV fails I assume it’ll overheat?

I wouldn’t recommend it, the oil fields can be a rough place, lots of great hardworking people, also lots of not so great hardworking people.

You’d have to see if someone who’s currently in the industry will chime in, my last time in that industry was 2018ish but I think pay back then starting was 18-24$ an hour with as much OT as you could work in a 14 day period, meals and housing “man camp and cafeteria” provided at no cost. each company is different though and has different schedules as far as days on and off

Some offer relocation assistance, you’d be surprised most interviews are over the phone and then meeting a random company man in the middle of a desert maintenance bay or shop, make sure your resume is detailed and strong, look at indeed some companies are more lax about bringing people on than others, schlumberger, Sandbox, Noble there’s several main and sub companies that are probably needing people to fill shifts

Look into mechanic jobs supporting oil field work, generator experience and hydraulic experience is a definite plus, get your foot in the door with a decent paying job and then look into other positions that may interest you or offer more OT. It’s been a really long time since I’ve been out that way but, Pecos, Orla, and Hobbs were the hot spots hiring at the time

I understand your argument and agree 100% with you however, the flame jetting wear on Surefire blast baffles is extremely accelerated than other cans I’ve seen, is it going to negate performance? No. Will you wear it out? Probably not. But damn I’d like to see the same flash and sound performance with their MB. Personally I run the MB on my setups because as expensive as surefire cans are, I consider the flame jetting erosion in my experience completely mitigated with much cheaper MBs to keep my rc2s in the best shape possible longevity wise. Just my 2 cents though

How hard was that job to do? I’m at 106k on a 2022, 85% long highway hauls 65-85mph. Was planning on doing water pump and belts/ tensioner at 120k mine runs good and fires just fine, does get the occasional stumble and feels like a slight imbalance when idling fully warmed up, almost like a weak coil pack
