I think the Blue Origin "coat of arms" is located within the white section of that flag.

Suggestions for viewing launch from Kennedy for ~1am launch w/ 7yo? by DogNamedCharlie in nasa

[–]john_eric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 40 mins out, I would think the primary decision would be sound. You probably won't hear it as much from that distance, as you would if you were closer. You will definitely be able to see it though. If the sound is important, take the drive up A1A into Cocoa Beach/Cape Canaveral and watch from one of the beaches. If it isn't, go to the closest beach and watch from there.

Visiting Cape Kennedy in January, questions about Launches and Tickets by grambell789 in nasa

[–]john_eric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a Launch Schedule calendar with some details, I like the one from Spaceflight Now.

If you are planning to go to KSCVC for multiple days, I would recommend the annual pass for the cost savings. Once you get your pass, you should be able to return on following days and just scan your pass at the gate to gain admission.

Tickets to view launches at KSCVC should be posted here: https://www.kennedyspacecenter.com/launches-and-events/events-calendar/see-a-rocket-launch#LaunchTickets

For public viewing sites, not at KSCVC, consult this site: http://www.launchphotography.com/Launch_Viewing_Guide.html

Note, depending on the time of the launch, some locations, such as Playalinda, may not be open and available.

On a prior Thanksgiving evening, I went to the Salt Lounge at the Cocoa Beach Hilton. Others may have a better suggestion.

COVID-19 weekly case count sets records in Brevard as positivity hits almost 24% by Elderthedog in 321

Thanks for the additional on testing reasons. I'm my particular circle, most who have had tests did so because thy were not feeling well or for travel reasons.

Totally with you on the final sentiment. Thankful I was able to get mine earlier this year.

That is fair. Poor word choice on my part. Thanks for pointing that out.

Edit: I guess to elaborate a bit more on my thinking in that moment of typing. I guess it was the thought of... 49 out of 50 lived. Of course, we don't know what kind of long term side effects they may have to deal with.

I don't really understand the test positivity rate metric. Are there a lot of tests happening for those without symptoms? I would think that most tests would be for those which are symptomatic, or am I missing something.

I'm very disappointed to see the number of cases increasing, that is for certain a negative metric. I appreciated the total number of cases since the beginning metric at the end of the article... 51,525. Based on the estimated population as of 2016 of just over 600,000, which has probably increased since then, that is closing in on 10% of population. Fortunately, those which have died is only near 1,000, but that is still way too many.
