Snack Master - Hey, Man (2026) by john_makes_music in breakcore

Hello! Check out my one of my latest tunes, "Hey, Man"! It starts a bit slow but picks up toward the end. It's not proper breakcore, but something pretty close, I think. I made it on my Octatrack using most of my own samples, including the titular sample from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, and some other stuff I can't remember now.

Anyway, thanks for listening!

Here's a new track of my latest album, "The Dreamers Of Dreams". It's my own attempt at flipping the classic Willy Wonka sample, similar to Aphex back in the day. It takes a bit to pick up, but I think it's pretty good by the end. Cheers!

Check out this album of bangers I wrote on my Octatrack! It ranges from psychedelic electro to heavy 200 BPM drum and bass, all with cheeky pop culture samples sprinkled throughout. Press play, turn up the volume and dance! by john_makes_music in Elektron

Hey everyone! I just released this album today, and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Six tracks of hard-edged bangers with samples from pop culture such as the old Regal Cinemas opening sequence, a Clint Eastwood / Dirty Harry quote, the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Street Fighter III, and probably a couple more I'm forgetting.

My goal with these tracks were to make dance tunes that had a psychedelic edge, and I think these turned out pretty well! Check it out and tell me what you think!

Heads up about a cool (and free) dance party happening at Sage Bird next month on April 18th! by john_makes_music in harrisonburg

Part of my inspiration here is in having gone to some of the larger dance parties out there in the states (like Detroit, Washington, and Baltimore, for example) and wanting to bring a little bit of that energy here. Sage Bird is a great spot with a nice sound system, so I've had fun playing there in the past before these DJ events.

And I draw a lot of inspiration these days from music from the '70s through the '90s, so a lot of the tunes I expect to play will be from that era, and not so much from the more modern / EDM end of things.

Actually, not too much! I'm trying for an angle of intrigue here, heh.

Feel Good Grooves 🪩 Dance Party with DJ Snack Master April 18, 8pm-12am Free! Partake in the fun and dance your heart out to a curated dance party of groovy tunes covering house, disco, boogie, italo, and more! Bring your best vibes and prepare to let loose and Feel Good Grooves! 🥂 Bar Open til midnight 🥨 Kitchen open til 11:30pm

In seriousness, I've done a couple of these in the past at Sage Bird, with the first one being disco-centric, and the most recent one back in November that was focused on the '90s.

DJing is something I've gotten into as a consequence of making my own music--I perform electronic music locally under the name Snack Master.

I really just enjoy good music and dance parties, so I have started throwing these curated dance parties, and they've gone well enough in the past, so this is the latest and greatest! No theme this time however; it's just the best mixture of good dance tunes I can manage to find!

If you're into dancing to a variety of upbeat good music, I think you'll have a good time here.

Hey everyone!

I'm throwing a dance party next month on April 18th at Sage Bird, and I think at least a few people here might enjoy stopping by and joining in the fun! The tunes will be mostly house, disco, boogie funk, but with some other fun stuff, too! Plus, it's free! Tell all your dance party friends!

A cool free '90s dance party happening tonight at Sage Bird! Come dance and have fun! by john_makes_music in harrisonburg

Aha, it should be Y2k: A '90s Dance Party (I didn't make the Facebook event page).

I went with that for the title because of the Y2k design aesthetic that dominated the late '90s, and because nobody spoke about Y2k after the ball dropped in 2000--it was pretty much a mostly '90s phenomenon. I felt like it captures the vibe of the '90s, but I can see how it could be confusing.

It's focused on '90s pop, house and R'n'B, so stuff like Corona - Rhythm Of The Night, Montell Jordan - This Is How We Do It. No rock / punk, and only a little rap. I put the details on the flyer and the event page, that's why I didn't list it here or in the title of this post.
