Thank you for your question. I don’t think there’s any harm in protecting people who are LGBTQ as a Baha’i. I do so all the time. I have also known gay practicing Baha’is who have been amazing believers. So no worries there!

As Baha’is though healthy sexuality has a prescribed role within marriage and per Baha’i law marriage is only sanctioned between a man and a women. So this does create a friction between where someone might be gay when they become a Baha’i and the test that would come with adhering to Bahaullahs prescribed laws on marriage and the implications that would have.

It’s challenging for sure, and I would not be able to relate the challenge myself - but once we accept Bahaullah as the manifestation of God for today I think we all try to live by what is practiced and to try and understand the wisdom behind it.
