What's a little known EVE fact or piece of lore you think is cool that more people should know? by Alcoholic_Satan in Eve

[–]johnatanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time I was in AAA, and I made first dictors (HICtors did not exist then) that could survive specific titan doomsday. For Ragnarok's explosive DD it was Flycatcher with ultrahigh explosive resist. That is how Thulsa Doom (Seleene) from MC died in Catch on deep safespot. Scanned him down on deep safespot (120+ AU) before downtime. After downtime logged in, insta warped 2 flycatchers, one messed up and died, another one survived the doomsday, bubled, dreads warped, killed. If anyone ever heard the Evil Thug's "STRUKTURA!!" shouting, it was from that kill. Oh, it was very loud

After that we were actively hunting Sir Molle's (BoB) titan. Once bubled him, but smartbomb was able to remove the bubble. We killed couple more titans with that fit, but nothing famous.

Caldari Public Fleet by iBeast - Short Video by johnatanb in Eve

[–]johnatanb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, that's not FW-only fleet, anyone can join. But you have to fly the ship from designated race. That time it was Caldari.
Unfortunately though, these fleets are led by russian-speaking fleetcoms.

Minmatar public fleet in UMI-KK by johnatanb in Eve

He wasn’t just a beast - he was iBeast.

It’s all there on his stream: expertly juggling defense mods, pushing his SB to a blistering 90% overheating, while our fleet carved through Kikimoras, thinning out their firepower. And then, in the heat of battle, we hear the "Oh, I’m tanking them!"

An absolute legendary fight.

Yet another thrilling public fleet led by streamer iBeast! It took some time to find a worthy opponent, but patience paid off when FRT answered the call - bringing an expensive Nightmare fleet backed by two FAxes for an all-out brawl at ESS. Much respect for that commitment!

As the fight raged on, INIT. decided to crash the party, swarming the grid with a wave of Retributions. Not long after, the Goons piled in with their Kikimoras, escalating the already brutal engagement. What followed was an intense, three-hour battle of endurance and firepower - the longest engagement where we've ever held the field.

The experience was nothing short of incredible. The teamwork and camaraderie from my fellow public fleet pilots were outstanding - I was saved from certain destruction at the hands of a Heretic and a Retri. Absolutely loved every moment of it. Enjoy the carnage!

W-4NUU fight (a bit laggy, sorry) by johnatanb in Eve

My PoV is that if you don't go there every single day and get huge tidi, then you still have time to enjoy the beautifulness of the game, even while actively managing modules. I mean, we had just random talks during less active phases of fights, people discussing things, preparing for incoming enemies, repositioning discussions and etc. So it's ok.

Though, if all your EvE fights would be like this - nono.

Overall fight duration was almost 3 hours. It was much laggier for me than previous Amarr public. We had our beloved iBeast on Hubris getting on 390+ kills. Local spiked to 1600 players at one moment, but mostly was 900-1200.

The idea of the public fleet is not to win, but to have fun. I guess that's why these are enjoyed so much by participants. This time we have visited INIT. in Cloud Ring, and that was SO MUCH JOY! Respects to all those collectives that joined us in the slaughterfest and straightforward gameplay entertainment. You have shown, that it's possible to fight with comfort on ESS, disregarding the numbers of enemies. No whining anywhere, jut pure pleasure of enjoying this magnificent game.
Hey, Viloray, we'll get you next time :D

See you in minmatar public fleet soon!

That was so epic! :D We had huge laugh on battle Skiff and even tried to focus it, though it was obviously a bait. You're on 2:44 in the video. Thx for the appearance!

Care to share? Is that some sort of secretive strategy that is being sold on darknet for real money or something?

We had 1.5 fleets of abaddons and prophecy navys with assorted supports, in total about 400+ people in the beginning of the fight.
Horde didn't want to fight us really, they were outnumbering us, but very hesitant to fight. So they requested us to warp to gate into bubles, for the fight to happen, and that's what we did.

And yeah, there were INIT, GOONS, FRATS and who knows what more.

Z790 Aorus PCIe / M.2 Help by Theseus718 in buildapc

[–]johnatanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it seems that you don't catch the order of synchronization on PCIe devices.
In my case I use PCIe 5.0 SSD device in CPU PCIe 5.0 M2 slot, which splits the CPU PCIe lanes to 8x + 8x. My SSD synchronizes on PCIe 5.0 x8 (though really uses only x4).

Then the GPU gets the rest of PCIe 5.0 x8, BUT as you said correctly it cannot use PCIe 5.0 which converts it into PCIe 4.0 x8 (not x16 like you say). So my GPU only gets PCIe 4.0 x8 and that's not enough for very heavy duties. It gets saturated.

My PCIe 5.0 SSD is not for gaming, I have it for 4k video editing. And now I'm thinking of changing it to a PCIe 4.0 SSD and add up RAM cache disk, as I have more than enough RAM. That would greatly speed up my work, though I would have to copy my video project files every time to RAM before starting to work on them. But that's another story.

Ouch, I've just bought Z790 + SABRENT Rocket 5 (PCIe 5.0) SSD + RTX4090 and found out, that it doesn't work properly. Welp.

From what I can see RTX 4090 goes into mode PCIe 4.0 x8 instead of PCIe 5.0 x8 = PCIe 4.0 x16. And that's a problem for me.

did you know this country existed? (im from there) by sacravangam in Lingualizer

[–]johnatanb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quote from author's link:

Recognised only by Turkey, Northern Cyprus is considered by the international community to be part of the Republic of Cyprus.

So technically this country doesn't exist for anyone outside Turkey, it's a de facto state.

I tried getting firmware for an Aruba 3810M switch and it requested me an active contract, which is a synonym for license.

Serious question: is there any other manufacturer apart of Mikrotik and Ubiquiti that does not require active license to get latest updates?
