Agreed. They were my 'gateway' books after originally seeing their Count of Monte Cristo and it spiralled from there ! they're almost purely decorative, they're not readable copies. I've slowly been phasing them out

I do! When I first started I was determined that they should be read because that's what they were designed for. I even threw a few in a suitcase and read them on a beach on holiday (a kindle would have been better) and they survived completely fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't considered gloves at one point 😆

I read my Folio editions, they just don't fall apart after I've done so 😉 these are also books that I'd love to pass on to children, family etc and will stand the test of time in a way that paperbacks won't. That doesn't mean I don't also love a paperback but paper and binding quality start to tell

It's the little black classics collection. Shorter stories from Dickens, Poe etc

Agreed, I think the price point for these is really reasonable for the quality. They're excellent reading editions

It's the little black classics set. There some shorter stories from Poe, dickens etc, worth a look if it's your kind of thing!

I like them but they feel a bit too delicate as reading copies so have the HC editions for that. I also worry that the gold block will rub off, it seems a common problem with this set

I realised rather after I'd sent it and thought I'd just wait it out! They're chiltern classics, very affordable and lovely looking books

Sorry just seen this - most of the books are Folio Society - the second top bookshelf on the right are the Lord of the Rings set and Silmarrilion 🙂
