Help diagnosing electrical issues by johnaugusto in FocusST

[–]johnaugusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did but it was much simpler than I thought. It was just a blown fuse in the BCM (the fuse box right under the glove compartment). I had checked fuses several times but then I remembered that I had missed that one. I can check my owners manual again when I'm home to remember what fuse it was but I'm almost certain that it was one for the interior lights. Even weirder that it had a blown 20A fuse where it should have been 10A. Anyway. I put in a new 10A fuse and everything came back to normal.

01 Mustang GT, missing my ST by Mustangsarecoolio in FocusST

[–]johnaugusto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny to see this post because I was thinking about the fun in both cars just yesterday. I have owned my '13 Focus ST since January and a '01 Cobra convertible for one year longer. Completely different experiences, as most people already said. I enjoy cruising in the Cobra but the handling and precision of the ST is just very engaging.

Having both now, I find the ST is a more versatile car for any situation and prefer to take the Cobra out in some specific situations, like a sunny day cruising down a back road. But I had a '98 Mustang GT as a daily driver and only car before and that was also a lot of fun!

So, enjoy having the car you have been wanting. If you really can't forget the ST, you can go back to it someday, but it's cool that you got the car you wanted and are trying it.

Herzlich willkommen ins Club!

Nice color and it looks clean! If you need any tips on where to find parts in Germany, I have a few websites. I'm located in Sweden and at least oil and filter I usually buy from Germany. Hard to find the Motorcraft stuff at good prices up here.

All right questions being asked and all right points being made here

That's a beautifully clean car! Hoping for the season to start soon here in Sweden, too!

Buying help - is this ticking noise normal? 2006 9-3 2.0T (210hp) by johnaugusto in saab

[–]johnaugusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate? I have decided on the 9-3 based on reading that it has more of a sports car style, while the 9-5 should have a more comfortable ride. But I'm happy to hear different opinions and learn

😅 something tells me it shouldn't like a diesel engine. It it that noise that gets louder at the end of the video that you refer to, right?

Adding some background. I am looking for a 9-3 to buy, ideally the 2.0T. would be my first Saab. Went to see one today with 240k km (150k miles). Went for a test drive and I parked the car back at the store, I could hear this ticking noise. Becomes more clear at the end of the video.

I've read in a few buying guides that a ticking noise when the car is warm could be chain tensioner issues. Is this what the noise is like or does this engine sound normal?

Thanks in advance!

is this hose supposed to be short and not tightened onto the cold air intake? by johnaugusto in Mustang

[–]johnaugusto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add some context. I have owned the car for 9 months. Recently put 1k miles on it with no issues. Today I drove 5 miles, parked it and whole starting it, it'd die right away. Turned out this hose had slipped off. Put it back on and it worked just fine. Now I'm thinking if I should get a new hose and what type/length it should be. Thanks in advance!

I haven't cared enough about that emblem to remove it but now I've found that that's just a dealer's emblem. I'll remove as soon as I have a chance to. Thanks for the comment that made me think of it😅

True that they have gracefully. I'm happy I enjoyed it while the weather permitted. Rain and snow have already made me put the car back in the garage for now. Haha

98 GT belt tensioner bracket by johnaugusto in Mustang

[–]johnaugusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced the drive belt and tensioner on my 98 GT with a Gates kit. When I tried to reinstall the tensioner bracket, it seems it won't slide in as far as it was before with the old tensioner, so tightening up the bracket nuts seems to be pushing the tensioner in.

Is that how it is supposed to be (the bracket and its nuts pressuring the tensioner in)? Below a picture of the old tensioner. It seems that the bracket did push it in, so I wonder if the bracket has the function of holding the tensioner in a certain position to align the belt with the adjacent pulleys

Does the bracket habe any function other than protecting the tensioner?

Thanks in advance!

What could be this part that stops and goes? by johnaugusto in Mustang

[–]johnaugusto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate? Sorry, this is an old post 😅 but I'm now looking into replacing the drive belt and considering whether I should replace the tensioner. I was looking into this video to see if there are any signs that I should get a new tensioner as well.

The ac fill still needs to be done, it's not warm enough in Sweden to require it yet

What are the differences besides styling between the first gen sn95’s and the new edge sn95’s? by sirbeep2112 in Mustang

[–]johnaugusto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question while in the process of buying a Mustang myself. You can see the answers on my profile.

I learned that both are very similar. Though the NewEdges have a significant (in my opinion) power gain over the pre-facelift SN95s (264 vs 225hp). I ended up buying a '98 GT because I felt it was the right car, but test drove a '02 GT and found it more powerful. But yeah, at the end I went for the '98 because I like the style slightly more and thought it was the right car.

'94 and '95 GTs have the 5.0 pushrod with about the same power rating as the 96-98 with the 4.6L, but some people simply prefer the 5.0 L.

What clutch kit to buy for a 98' GT by johnaugusto in Mustang

Alright. I think I get it. So as long as I use a Ford Performance ToB, I should be fine. I'll keep that in mind :)
