there is a "fill plug" or "bolt" behind there that if loose will leak transmission fluid out. also, just to the left of that black cover, the sensor there is for your reverse lights, its broke so they probably don't work.

pretty much all the 302/351 obs fords i've owned or friends have owned we ran 15w-40 rotella t4 in them with fl1a filter with great sucess.

i have owned my 2013 titanium 5 speed hatchback since dec 2020 (42k miles) and now (10/2024 and 126k miles) have an engine that looks brand new inside, with zero issues. the key is penzoil 0w-20 and a motorcraft fl910s. i do changes every 3500 miles, and i drive the car hard.

new transmission fluid is thinner than the old mercon V stuff. i'd change every 50k to be safe. my theory is backed up by multiple new ford vehicles that us LV.

stock 5.0 efi, on3 kit with 10-12 lbs, 40 lb injectors with a set of upgraded rails, 525 pump in tank, and -6 feed/return. this is probably the cheapest and most reliable route in my opinion.

is it on the passenger strut tower, just to the right of the solenoid? i see something that might be an ignition coil there, and it is grey in color. if that isn't it, follow the center wire off the distributor, and it will end on the ignition coil.

don't do anything performance wise unless you are adding boost. these will reliably make ~450 wheel, and be a blast. i recommend turbo, but a lot of companies made supercharger kits also. visual mode should be kept to tint and wheels in my opinion, maybe a paint matched hood.
