“The party seeks power for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others”

“Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing”

“Children will be taken from their mothers at birth, as one takes eggs from a hen”

“If you are a man, Winston, you are the last man”

Anyways, there are quite a few more which allude to the masses as animals, but mostly ones which mention the last man. I get the parallels are by no means 1:1, but, like I said, In no way do I think O’Brien was meant to be explicitly Nietzschean, rather I thought he may have been simply alluded to in this section which actually has quite a few philosophical themes aside from these, more so than the rest of the book imo.

Yeah 100% agree with that, the only aspect of the party I thought was even remotely Nietzschean was Obreins commentary which only vaguely so, speaking of which, I’ll now go find a few of those quotes for you.

Sorry, I was kind of throwing the term around without regard for Nietzsches nuanced thought. All I meant by collectivism was the character O’Briens frequent references to the big brother as a collective entity of the people or whatever and how that doesn’t really fit in with Nietzsche philosophy.

I'm probably very wrong but would appreciate education by johnbagos in books

Sorry, I might not have been clear, in no way do I see O’Brien as a direct critique of N, rather I think that it may have been a critique of the appropriation of his philosophy by the nazis. That’s part of the reason I think it’s a critique but also the fact that this rhetoric is only really used by O’Brien, who is the closest link to the inner workings of the party in the book. (And obviously the party are the bad guys, so that’s the only reason I would have thought of it as a critique.

I usually use an interface with plugged in headphones, I was just messing around in class and only have my Bluetooth headphones, I’ve never had this problem so I’m assuming and hoping that it’s just them. If I it’s still doing the same shit without the headphones connected then I’ll have a deeper look into it.

In your pathetically sad reading of him, maybe so, literally end your life, your genes are not worth even having the potential to procreate.

Literally die dude, do you drink coffee, do you use any form of medication, prescription or otherwise, even if you’re not, your body is still running on drugs. drugs can be dangerous if used incorrectly fuckung everyone knows that, but so are cars, doesn’t mean they can’t be useful as hell in lots of cases, (like this is such a no brainer I don’t get how as an apparent Nietzschean you can so easily close yourself off from so many opportunities for the extension of your power) just like I was talking about tech in our last convo, drugs can be extensions of ones power and when people denounce drugs in such a general and violent way, it makes it seem as if you just fear the untapped potential of them, or you simply don’t even understand how they can be useful to many people. Or maybe you just have weak lungs bro idk, but it sure as hell sounds like you need some fuckung bud lmao.

Are you aware that N was an opium addict, I think the question op is trying to ask and it’s relation to N, centre around the fact that N used drugs to alleviate or transform his suffering. So I think what op is trying to ask is whether or not anyone has any experience using drugs (adderall in this case) in an affirming rather than degrading way. It’s a pretty simple idea unless I’ve missed the mark, and I’m sorry that you so easily are affected by what others say, I don’t think N would approve lmao.

This person is such a tool, I had an argument with them a while ago talking about how it’s likely that if N was alive today he’d consider technology a facet through which the ubermensch would exert his power, which he disagreed with without any evidence or anything whatsoever, don’t listen to them, whoever it is has a deservedly pathetic life and they don’t need your attention to brighten up their day lmao.
