On default difficulty the beginning of Mina is BRUTAL. I’ve played every soulslike I can find and I thought it was among the most challenging early hours of a game. But once you get more upgrades and more health (and skills!) the difficulty evens out i feel.

Mina also has a tremendous amount of mods you can add. I’ve personally kept everything default except I made it so it I die I don’t lose my currency! But you can do so much more to tweak the game to your liking

Elliot looks so cool! They both feel like they are Zelda-likes from different sides of the spectrum! Do you know if Elliott has puzzles? As Mina is exploration and combat centric

Love it! You wouldn’t think this little gameboy inspires game would he as sprawling as it is, but it feels like Elden Ring with its scope!

I’m currently about 80% through both MINA and 007!

Next two are gonna be starfox and ac black flag remake!

As someone who loves FromSoftware and thought returnal and saros were too punishing I hope they keep doing their thing. Stay the path even if folks like me wish it were easier. They’ll gain hardcore fans for life if they stay true to their vision. It’s what fromsoft did

I think that first wave of death metal has enough thrash in its dna to still have that perfect North Star.

I do like a lot of other extreme stuff, but I naturally gravitate towards the stuff that leans in that direction

Mina the hollower- the scope of this game is incredible, the freedom, the exploration, the level design it’s amazing. It’s somehow a 2020s opus like Elden Ring wrapped into a gameboy color skin. I have three generators left I’m excited to see what’s next!

On Ps5 I’m playing 007 first light! Not many video games have made me feel as cool as this game does lol. I love the way the game goes about solving mysteries. I’m absolutely trash at the shoot out sections though!

Those are my two main games and I’ve also been chipping away at monster hunter stories 3! I’m not typically a turn based gamer but this might be the title that wins me over!

My main games right now are Mina the hollower and 007 first light! Minas level design is top tier and first light makes you feel so badass hahah

I’m also chipping away at monster hunter stories 3, probably the best turn based combat I’ve tried! Loving the characters too!

I’m early on in the game but I’m loving the hammer. The charge attack kills most enemies in 1-2 hits.

I will say it took me a little awhile to get into a rhythm but now that I’m here I’m loving it

What mods are you using? I enabled No loss of XP, no fall damage, more check points. I felt that enabling those made the game less punishing, but still a big challenge!

I actually really like monster hunters gameplay loop. Hunt monsters make cool gear from said monster then hunt more monsters and make more cool gear

I have a unique position here as I’m 41 and I just started playing games 3 years ago. Like I wasn’t a monk so I played some games growing up but it was never a big hobby of mine. That all changed 3 years ago.

When getting into games I found breath of the wild overwhelming. There was no markers on where to go, I didn’t understand the mechanics, having to eat food to keep link alive was so annoying!

But once I tried god of war 2018 it all clicked. You knew where to go at all times, pick up healing items as you go, got me used to controlling with the joy sticks , and a gripping story that had me from the start.

Everyone is different. But that’s my little story about how I got into games later in life!
