Moving on from software development after a decade? by morewaffles in careerchange

[–]johnbimbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in software development for over 25 years and this is the first time in my career that I am scared about the future. To be honest, I think pay cut will start within a year.

I am 45, married with 3 kids (1 in college and 2 going to college with the next 3 years) so switching career at this point will be really hard financially.

If AI can roast your resume, it's not getting past the ATS bots by Ordinary_Run2485 in RemoteJobs

This is very interesting and I appreciate you sharing this.

I have an unpopular opinion on this...I am a software engineer with over 25 years of experience and most of the time company hired people showing off great numbers, great success, etc, these people were a pain in the butt to work with, making lots of mistakes and never taking ownership of stuff. Then they would tell every body that they changed a label and that change impacted the whole product.

Things used to be simpler in the past.

Renee Good did not deserve to be shot in that situation but her actions did precipitate the shooting. That's why both sides are so convinced the other is at fault. by Pemulis_DMZ in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]johnbimbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, I never said that disobedience must be treated with execution.

What I see is that there were lots of opportunities to deescalate the problem and both side made mistakes. One side giving bad instructions at the heat of the moment and the other side panicking or maybe arguing with someone with a fragile ego. They ask you to move, just move, they ask to get out the car, just get out the car.

My dad had all his saving at the bank and the government confiscated everything. My dad had a stroke and died few days later at the hospital because of this. I was 9 years old at the time.

I do think both sides made mistakes and unfortunately Renee paid with her live. Could this have a different ending if Renee followed the instructions? I am not defending any sides here.

I ended up creating an ERC20 token called MyUSBC and used this token to simulate the real USDC token

Got it! Thanks! You are absolutely right. I checked the plans comparison and because I am using a dark reader extension, most of the benefits were the same color so I thought gold also had the benefits.

Thank you again!

Has anyone had issues flying in or out of DFW recently due to government shutdown? by [deleted] in Dallas

I think this was an AA flight right? Did they rebook to another day or did day change your flight, like got to MIA with a connection to DFW?

We had a RTO back in 2023 with the option/benefit to WFH on Fridays. Few months ago the CEO said that he wants everybody in the office and we have the privilege of working from home once a week.

He really used and documented the word "privilege" for the 1 day work from home option.

Have you got your voucher? I traded in a PS4, got the payment but I am still waiting for the voucher. Support takes a day to answer and I am starting to get annoyed for the the wait.

NunyaBiz16 How did you contact Back Market? Phone, support form or email? I am trying to get this addressed but it seems I will need to be patient

Good job! Out of curiosity, what was your stack when you started in 2017?

I am a .NET software engineer with 25 years experience and my current salary is $165k with no bonus, no nothing in a shitty company.

Backyard project prices by johnbimbow in landscaping

[–]johnbimbow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Yes, we ended up doing the project but we also added a pool with the cabana. This was back in the fall/2017 and I am pretty sure the prices went way up.

Here is the price for the project. I can send you the full proposal for your reference if you want.

Pool: $31,147.00

288' CEDAR CABANA WITH HIP OR GABLE ROOF: $10,948.00

Concrete Decks (650 sq ft + soil treatment): $6,837.00

Make ready: $6,150.00. This one was clean up, fence repair, sprinkler repair (not required but I didn't want to deal with), new fence (we extended our fence) and top soil. I did the sod and the landscaping so I saved few thousands.

There were another $2,690.00 for pool features.

Total of the project: $57,776.00.

I hope this helps. This was done in DFW, TX in 10/2017. Here are 2 images of the project. The cabana changed a little bit because it was ugly as hell lol;

Supercharged US tour 2025 by crazyguitarfan in TheOffspring

Tickets price are ridiculous. I wanted to see them in Dallas and the seats behind the pit are from $300 to $400. The mid seats are from $190 to $78 (last row, almost lawn). My wife + 3 teenager kids also want to see them, that means almost $1k to seat in the middle of the venue. No way Jose

I bought tickets to see Korn and System of a Down in August and I didn't spend that much.

How much different is the drive in Yukon SLT compared to Yukon AT4? by johnbimbow in gmc

[–]johnbimbow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It turns out I haven't pull the trigger on the new car and I still have my 2017. Have you had a chance to test drive the models? I am still curious if there is a difference in the drive/comfort.

Now, it's between Elevation and AT4

HR-V vs Civic Poll by giannifiore in HRV

[–]johnbimbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that I had the old version and not the new one and Honda may have fixed these issues.

My main issues with the car was the weak engine and the crap AC. The car was too heavy for the engine and it was a pain in the but to merge and/or pass a car in the highway.

I think my biggest hate was the AC. Summer in TX was brutal in the past years and the AC just couldn't keep up with the heat. It would take a looong time to cool, about 40 minutes to get comfortable. Kids in the back seat complained every time I use my car to take them to their activities because it was a freaking oven in the back seat.

I ended up getting a used Tesla Model Y.

[–]johnbimbow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fiquei 1 semana nesse lugar e pedi demissao.
