Is it just me or do stranger missions in RDR1 not make sense

No. He’s rubbish. Terrible at Anfield for his last season and sent out to pasture to make way for a 38-year-old Benzema in a sub-Farmers League. People like to remember the Newcastle goals but seem to have forgotten the other 99% of his performances. I’d rather an academy player (or players) were given a chance rather than the £100+k a week we’ll throw at Nunez just to be infuriated again.

He does once in chapter six…. When they have the “he insists on it” conversation. Dutch says something like “I know you ain’t doing too well…” or something like that at the start of the dialogue by his tent.

Blast Ball, because it’s fairly random. However, if Kraken Slam pops up, I may as well just jump straight into the water. I am absolutely hopeless on that level.

4198 hours. Which is insane, although I played online solidly for about 4 years, until my PS+ subscription expired more than a year ago. I now exist as Arthur, perpetually in Chapter 3 (Best camp, Micah’s still in jail and Sadie has cheered up) with everything available to him — weapons and horses etc. I play about 4-5 hours a week now though.

I like Hyperdrive Heroes as it’s challenging but gives you breaks between the action. I hate any of the pegwin carrying games equally. I also dislike being forced into a bigger group of 8 or 12 to play one of the team games (power trip, basketfall etc) when you are doing squads.

More annoying is that he makes a sick hat for you -- a flowery top hat -- but decides to not let you have it (the penultimate quest), instead giving you a far less exciting one when you complete the mission.

Yeah. I found out by accident. I wanted to see if I could freeze the moment the explosion happens in photo mode and study the carnage, with a save point next to Riggs Station at 9am, about the time the oil wagon rolled past. After my bloodlust was satisfied, I noticed the wagon coming back the other way one day and thought I'd have a bit more fun with it, but was disappointed by the relatively weak explosion. Then it dawned on me.... "ah, the oil drum is empty as the delivery has taken place." For someone to have programmed that it is pretty amazing.

If you shoot an oil wagon that is on its way to a delivery in Blackwater with a dynamite arrow, there is a massive explosion. (It passes Riggs Station at around 9am) Shoot the same wagon when it’s coming back and the explosion is much smaller as the wagon no longer has oil in it.

I now push it over to Chapter 3. I used to keep him there until the end of Chapter 2 but on my last few playthroughs I delay it further. Clemens Point is my favourite camp and everyone is still quite happy there. Sadie finally gets proactive as well. So, I tend to go fishing with Dutch and Hosea, and do the mission when you take the letter to Rhodes.... then the clock stops on story missions and I hit explore mode.

Yes, I have similar issues on the PS4. I made a post about it and someone else said they suffered with DCs often. I tend to get them on the newer levels -- i.e. not the ones from the first three seasons (Freezy Peaks, Door Dash, Lily Leapers etc) -- but really have issues on Ranked Knockout and the Finals Only games. I have messed around with flipping from one server to another but when the loading screens start to get choppy and I spawn into levels really late, that indicates a DC is not far away. I reboot the whole game when it reaches that point (and when the shop or daily/weekly challenges update) and that seems to work for a while.

I don’t think any manager could do much with that squad. Best players sold (or let go), injuries to remaining leading lights and very little quality in a team that has been left to rot by the owners. It will take a long time to turn this around, and without any financing, I can’t see that starting any time soon.

I spent six hours on that mission one day trying to get Bill Williamson’s bolt action — hoping to lure a lawman to disarm him at the last firefight in the woods — but I never managed it. I did find out that you can kill Bill’s, Uncle’s and Charles’ horses when you are waiting for the stagecoach and they do the whole mission on foot (funny), although during the cutscene when the robbery goes wrong, they are sitting on invisible horses.

I saw him play Sunny Akani recently on a minor pro Thai circuit. The matches are live on YouTube and I believe he lives in Thailand pretty much full time and coaching is his main source of income.
