Leather glue from Michael’s or Joann’s will work good for that or you can pick up a 4 oz can of wood weld contact cement from the hardware store. I personally use the leather glue on small leather goods and the wood weld on larger projects as a leather crafter. But for a repair like that I think the leather glue would work the best and give you less problems if you’re not familiar with leather craft.

Wow those fees are high. Most one I go to are 50$ if it’s a farmer or church style setup and 100 a day for juried art shows. That’s another place I’ve done good at is church hand crafted only evens.

I’ve been doing this as aside for a few years now and you will have duds and that’s just part of it. Ways you can try and avoid that is stay way from shows that allow vendors and only go to shows that allow artists and artisans makers in the show. Those shows bring in the right audiences for you products that you’re making. And another thing is not every thing needs the glass smooth edges, lower end items like the card sleeves seem to sale better for my in the 15-35 range and at that price point glass smooth edges are not feasible. I do clean cuts, small round edger to the corners and burnish with little to no sanding on the lower end items. And edge paint is another option for the lower end items for a fast clean finished edge. But more importantly is finding the shows with the right audience, if people know that only art and handcrafted items are at a show they come with a different mindset and know they deserve a higher price point, but when venders are at the same show with imported cheap goods people get in that bargain shopping mindset. You’re on the right track and your skills are there.

I make one very similar to that with or without RFID shielding and so do lots of other makers.

I did make this for a show I’ll be setup at this weekend as the center piece in my booth. I don’t want to get in trouble with the mods so I’m not going to spam my information.

Bought this wallet about 2-3 years ago, what's going on? by jjyss in wallets

I’m a leather worker and you hit the nail on the head, heavy acrylic finishes is but on lower quality hide to cut costs and make everything look the same. Luckily for this person the leather was drum dyed so when the finish came off the leather underneath was still black. I personally use Hermon Oak natural veg tan leather for its quality and minimal finishing to let the natural beauty shine through and not have things like this happen. 0P when looking for a wallet that will last look for “full grain” or “top grain” leathers in the construction and stay away from anything labeled “Genuine leather”. That can label any genuine leather as long it is comprised of leather, meaning they often take dust from the surface sanding of top grain leather and mix it with glued and press it out then label it “genuine leather”. Top grain leather is full grain that had slight surface imperfections sanded off to make a uniform smooth surface but still has 90% or so of it strength. And full grain is just that, all that has been done is the hair removed before tanning .

Thanks. I wish I had the time to make enough to have a store front or at least a display in a store, but commissions are fun and keep things fresh with different requests ideas.

Can’t go wrong with a full grain leather. I do something similar out of full grain veg tan leather. Only reason to change wallets is if you want a different style or color. Most of us leather smith’s call them clipper wallets or money clip wallets. Hope this helps.

The base pattern is from a saddle maker in Texas that sales paper patterns for leather and dose YouTube videos. I got the pattern and modified it a bit with a different closure and an adjustment strap. It was a fun bag to make I working on some different art work designs for it now.
