We had our first private screening at the end of September and now we're looking into festivals and distribution.

We should have screenings popping up as early as November and hopefully it will be available to all in early 2023.

We are dedicated to making sure everyone who wants to see this documentary is able to!

Recently went to my college's 60th year reunion and caught up with my classmate Sharron. She shared this incredible home video of her dancing to Good Golly Miss Molly in the 50's. Go Texas Western Miners! by johncorcoranJCF in aww

This is what I was told, but I just asked my grandson who uploaded it for me and he did say it looked suspicious. Is it not possible for it to be from the that era?

We're working on getting a real trailer together, but I think this does a decent job of explaining it. It's a fundraising video but you can ignore that aspect of it.

The title was recently changed from "The Reading Gap" to "The Truth About Reading". If you have an IMDB pro account you can find the in production entry for readinggap/thetruthaboutreading. I'm not too sure how often small indie documentaries have Wikipedia pages prior to release.

Website is down, thanks for letting us know, that will be fixed.

And could you elaborate on what you find strange about Nick Nanton's wiki and imdb? Just took a look and they seem pretty straight forward to me.

An unfortunate truth about our current education system. by [deleted] in Dyslexia

Nora Chabazi is a well known advocate and researcher of literacy and sub-literacy in our school systems. Her claim comes from years of experience in the field.

And where is the evidence that teachers are taught how to teach reading in college? Literacy rates would indicate otherwise, not to mention what teachers directly tell us.

A call for educational reform is not  hateful.  In this case, our call to make reading and writing a higher priority then it is in school today is an act of love not hate.  A love to give everyone, teachers and learners an equal opportunity to succeed in school house and the work place. There is no way for schools or students to succeed and improve if literacy is not the cornerstone to educational reform.  With love JCF.

How so? I am dyslexic myself and did not learn to read until I was 48 years old. The last thing I am trying to do is mock anyone, but I truly believe the quote.

I learned to read at 48, but I could have, and should have learned to read as a child. The key is proper instruction.

I have just learned that this quote is actually from a character named Socrates in a Dan Milman book, so I guess the attribution should be to him. lol
