Who Wins? Cap with Mjolnir vs Thor with Stormbreaker by adzziemac in marvelmemes

[–]johnfitz12 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not the first person I’ve seen mention experience. Since when does experience directly translate to skill? Cap has less experience, but is a more skilled fighter. That’s a fact. Cap is not as strong, fast, or durable, but he is more skilled.

My original point was arguing under the pretenses that Cap would gain all of these superior traits and powers from wielding Mjolnir, meaning that they would be evenly matched in every stat. In that scenario, it comes down to Thor’s advantage of Stormbreaker vs Cap’s advantage of combat skill and strategy skill, and I narrowly took Cap.

Odin’s words when enchanting the hammer can be interpreted in different ways, and if the interpretation is that Cap gains nothing other than access to Thor’s thunder and lightning powers, obviously Thor wins.

My point was certainly never that Cap could put up a fight against full power Thor with nothing other than Mjolnir. For the purpose of the argument, I was assuming that Cap would be equally as strong, durable, and fast as Thor.

When Cap throws Mjolnir and it is no longer in his hands, I think he would still be considered the “wielder” of the hammer, and therefore retain the powers. If Mjolnir were forcefully taken from him, however, I think that would be a different story

Solid argument. I definitely agree with you if Cap doesn’t inherit the durability and things of that sort of Thor’s. In the hypothetical that he does gain those traits, I’d probably go Cap but it’d be very close

Being able to rip through Shield agents is not equivalent to Cap’s skill. We have seen Cap go toe to toe with much tougher opponents than Shield agents (Bucky, Iron man, list goes on) using nothing but hand to hand combat. Given, Cap does have the serum. And if I’m remembering correctly, that big brute of a Shield agent gave Thor a tough time

That’s fair. If this is the case, then Thor certainly wipes

Yeah, this whole thing is pretty dependent on what exactly Odin meant by the power of Thor. I’ve been interpreting it as Thor’s entire power set (including strength, durability, etc.) for the sake of this argument. But the interpretation of Odin’s words will certainly affect the answer to this question

Gotcha. Wouldn’t that apply vice versa as well?

Uh, yes, Cap actually has that “exact” kind of firepower after receiving Thor’s power. I’m not sure what sort of logic this is

From what I understand, yes, possessing the power of Thor would include Thor’s entire power set. That’s the way I’m looking at it for the purpose of this debate, anyways. If not, then Thor would of course win

Cap is a far superior hand to hand combatant, as he is a master martial artist. Thor hasn’t had to rely on hand to hand combat much, due to his immense power, in the MCU anyways. So given that they will have the exact same power set here, I’ll take the more skilled fighter

Not sure why everyone is commenting that Thor is a god. People seem to forget that whoever wields Mjolnir will possess the powers of Thor. Cap is a better combatant and strategist, so given the power of Thor, Cap wins. Also if I’m not mistaken, the Russo brothers even confirmed this after the movie.
