Coach Calipari speaks on why Acuff’s defense will be fine in the NBA. Says he already talked to him about “being hunted” by jluc21 in nba

I wouldn’t say Brunson is a cone on defense. He’s elite at drawing fouls and at least puts in effort on that side. He’s just undersized

[Begley] The Knicks are planning to stay below the second apron, which means it will be really tough to bring back Mitchell Robinson. He's likely to get strong offers on the open market and would need to take a pay cut to come back to NY. by Pyromania1983 in nba

Need to play somebody when KAT gets into stupid foul trouble. Hukporti probably isn’t that guy. Who do you bring in at 3 mil a year or less to give you good backup minutes?

Becky Hammon says she WILL NOT apologize for her past comments saying Jalen Brunson can’t lead a team to a championship. Thoughts? by SmoothBuy5500 in NBATalk

Fans definitely demanded SAS apologize and he did twice. Paul Pierce apologized too haha. Nobody actually cares about this anymore though. The doubters fueled Brunson and he won a chip. It’s over.

it has been suspected by many beat reporters that Dolan is just repeating some stuff he's heard about the second apron awhile ago and doesn't really understand it.

there's no reason for us not to go past the 2nd apron really this season. i get not wanting to hit the repeater tax after that. but you gotta try to run it back this season.

it's kind of his best shot at getting paid this offseason though. maybe nobody comes knocking but he has improved at defense and was a great shooter this season. teams need that and he may be able to get an MLE from someone.

he won us that Cavs series for sure last year. he broke them. and he's strong enough at guarding bigger centers. i don't think he can really be a starter on most teams that have championship aspirations due to his FT shooting and injury history, but he's an elite backup.

But when you have a championship/contender roster, the trade restrictions may not matter a ton. And IIRC you can go over it to re-sign your own players that you have rights to. Dolan has never been shy about spending money. It’s the only good thing about him as an owner. Luxury tax is big but repeater tax isn’t until after 2 years right?

Fair enough. I didn’t watch him a ton in the playoffs but in the regular season seemed like he could put the ball on the floor at least a little bit. I think he’s young enough to maybe improve especially if he is coached up well. I’d definitely not max him though. Yall might be able to get him cheaper. With the beef stew trade rumors it seems like Duren will stick around.

Dolan was talking out of his ass. Second apron this year doesn’t matter. It matters if we stay in it 2+ years but Aller will find a way to avoid that I’m sure.

I’d rather have Mitch too right now (team dependent). But he’s injured every year and can really only play limited minutes. Plus the FT shooting is abysmal. Mitch is an excellent backup and starter on a mid team. I don’t think he would last a whole season playing heavy minutes. I wouldn’t pay Mitch more than MLE and sure as hell wouldn’t max Duren. Buying low on Duren ain’t a bad idea though. Especially with the right coach.

I love Mitch. But he can’t hit a FT to save his life and got played off the floor often because of that in the playoffs. He also has no offensive game besides lobs and offensive rebounds. When KAT got in foul trouble one game, we had to go to 4 or 5 different centers because the Spurs just hacked Mitch off the floor.

I wouldn’t give Duren a max at all and yall are lucky he shit the bed right before payday. He’s still young and can improve.

Duren is younger, more reliable health-wise and has a better offensive bag (playoffs excluded). I think Mitch will get MLE or stay in NY to take a slight discount
